New Years day from memory

2-2

Think Bull scored both theirs

(Can't remember who scored ours)!

NYD 1990 was against Man City, David Hirst was in the net kept a clean sheet after 6 glasses of champagne! This was the last ever top flight match that wasn’t televised.

100% Boxing Day.  We were 2-0 up and drew after Harkes got a red for daring to attempt a slide tackle in the torrential rain.  I especially remember it because I've never felt so ill at a game, got absolutely hammered the night before, had one of those massive spew ups in the morning that convince you that you feel much better now, but it came back. Spent much of the game sitting down on the Kop so didn't see too much although I managed not to puke again. I remember a dog invading the pitch unless I was hallucinating.

This is a pic from that game

The Kop looks immense

I've been at the two recent (well, this century!) home abandonments against Wigan and Coventry.

Remember a home game against Derby being called off very very close to kick off in the early 80s.

I can’t even remember the Wigan one.

I got to Sheffield Easter time in the early 80’s, we were due to play West Ham, but it didn’t go ahead for some reason?

Not sure what year maybe 81. Went back south and watched Wolves V Arsenal (second half).

Has anyone any idea what year or why it didn’t go ahead?

I don’t know the reason why the original game didn’t go ahead, but when the game was played it was played after the rest of the season ended.

In the early 90’s, went to Cambridge in the FA cup, got down there early for a drink, found out later they had called it off due to the snow. ( although the game hadn’t started) Very frustrating all the same.)

It was fog iI think. We were outside the stand when it was called off.

Replay was a dog of a game if i remember correctly. 1-0 with a Bright header.... though all that may just be made up in my head!!

Your memory is probably better than mine. Had a great day out though. We didn’t have the social media then so we didn’t find out straight.

I’m certain the west ham game was off due to snow. Really bad winter in 80/81

I think they played the game right at the end of the season

A proper dead rubber. West Ham were up by then

Walsall away was one that sticks in the mind. I remember quite a lot of us watching a local game on the park next door! Not sure they appreciated a few joining in when it went too close to the touch line.

I can't remember any. I once went to Gillingham and the game was called off because of fog,  A few minutes after arriving in Gillingham, But I can't remember any games I was at being called off. I remember things play in the snow And obviously heavy rain, but they all finished.

No memories here.

Yes.

I've been corrected in an earlier post.

Thank you.

Was that around 85’ when Clive Allen was banging them in for fun?

I seem to remember this and being on way to London when it got called off. Then diverted and took in a random game.

Looking it up Jan 19th 1985 , all but 10 fixtures cancelled?. Did some go to Chelsea v Arsenal? Only game played in south of England.
