gypsyowl Posted November 18 Author Posted November 18 the EFL really haven't done us much favours, the 2 signings we make will cover Valery and Fusire's absence in January

He's the same age as Lowe but with an inferior goalscoring record. Redmond would at least give us something different on the pitch - although if we can only sign one more player at the moment I really think central midfield is the priority. 2

Unless we're keeping both players close and trying to negotiate with the EFL to allow us to sign more players But if we can only sign 2, a centre back and central midfielder is key 1

Every team will be out to put one over us because we will be the biggest in that league? We will need players who have been there and done it, mixed with youngsters who are hungry! Getting the mix right is always hard 1

So if cooper comes in does well we still get rid and start again …in the league below? I’d agree if we stayed up totally

FlyingOwl Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Anyone moaning really doesn't understand why these signings are being made and, in the circumstances, either Watmore or Redmond are still better quality than Jamal Lowe or Ike Ugbo. However, these signings aren't being made to improve the squad/quality of play etc (if that happens then bonus) They're signings that are being sanctioned, and are needed, because we desperately need bodies. We need to give players a rest. The squad needs rotational options urgently before AFCON & the christmas period starts. We're not out of the woods as a club. These are beggars can't be choosers times. Chuffed with Liam Cooper as a signing. If I got to choose, I'd prefer Redmond over Watmore. But tbh I'm hoping Watmore hangs on for the takeover and we can get him in also as I've always felt he's a handy forward. 2 2
zorbatheowl Posted November 18 Posted November 18 I mean who in their right mind would have signed Ronaldo and Messi when they turned 30. Over the hill looking for a last pay check BB shouldn't have been offered contracts basing it on that theory ?
Mick70 Posted November 18 Posted November 18 I’m sure we’re under some sort of max per week aswell? Not sure who else we can sign atm

Out of interest, what makes you certain that Watmore is any better than Lowe right now? Especially when he hasn't played any senior football for 9 months. They're the same age, had similar career paths, and Lowe has 44 goals in 225 career Championship appearances, Watmore 33 in 174.

Wasn't a slight at Lowe. He's done a good job in horrible circumstances. I just genuinely, from when I've watched either player, think Watmore is someone who offers more. But again, I think Redmond is who I'd go for as he's entirely different a sort of player altogether.
Popular Post Vanderowlsterdam Posted November 18 Popular Post Posted November 18 I think we should sign Redmond first then ask the EFL to make another signing, and when they say, "what, more?!?" We can say "agreed, we'll get Duncan's paperwork sorted." 11
