Not according to the bible ....41k at hillsboro 36k at Newcastle which was there highest attendance ..... they averaged 29k that season which was more than we did as we both got promoted .

Our home crowd was something like 42,000. 36,000 at theirs.

What an engine that guy had. 

He played in a two man midfield,(with Megson) when everyone else played with four.

And they barely missed a match in the promotion season….42 league games plus another 10 or so cup games. Try telling that to todays players 

The work that Shelton and Megson got through in that midfield, week in and week out, was remarkable when you think about it. And as pointed out above, it seemed like they hardly missed a minute of action between them for years. But not only did they have relentless energy, they were tough as anything despite neither of them being especially big, didn't mind getting involved in a scrap and could still produce moments of real quality. They would be appalled by the rolling around and histrionics of their modern counterparts. What a partnership they were.

One of our best from my favourite era, 80-85, great days to be Wednesday.

I don't think it was the crowds they get now though,Geordies were the same size as us, would there have been more than 18k ? At the game.
