fife_owl Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Can someone from the club please tell us what the actual, working, capacity of Hillsborough is. I suspect the answer depends on which parts of the ground visiting fans sit in. We know how many seats there are? But clearly, we aren't allowed to use them all. Another question. For the world cup, we are required to have a capacity of 45,000. That must mean that we can get 45,000 into the stadium. How can that be guaranteed with SYP segregation rules. There isn't much point having 45,000 seats if you can only use 41,000 of them. Thanks Fife_Owl
i used to be sc_owl Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I think we're just shy of 40,000 seats, but as you say segregation rules reduce that considerably. I think the total capacity for this fixture is going to be nearer 36-37K. There was something about this in another thread, but I can't remember which one...?
TheGaffer Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I always wondered why our official capacity went from 39,849 a few years ago to whatever it is now?

As for used Capacity, its 37859, but obviously less for certain games dependant on various factors. Sunday's game will be about 35500 i would imagine.
Tyto Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I suspect segregation isn't such a big issue for World Cup games, because there will be a lot more neutrals and locals going to the games. It won't be as intense as a CCC match, where almost everyone at the ground is a proper supporter of one of the two clubs.
Wazzer Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Im glad someone brought this up, seems we only have £35 k capacity ground then. Utter gonads this segregation crap. Why bother having having the seats in if we cant use them. Other clubs as already stated in another thread just have a line of stewards between and surely if things are that bad in english football the authorities should be implementing criteria for grounds that make every club have more perminent fixtures to segregate crowds like big screens, nets, fencing etc.... As for the segregation on the North, have our hoolies suddenly become gymnastic marines because theyd need to be to get to the lep!

How can that be guaranteed with SYP specific segregation rules that only apply to Hillsborough, and in no way will the same rules be applied at Bumhole lane. There isn't much point having 45,000 seats if you can only use 41,000 of them. Thanks Fife_Owl changed for you
barmyowl1212 Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Yeah why have we got to have such a big gap? A the sty the have about 50 seats covered in the corner between away fans and the stand on the left. Whats different at Hillsborough? We want answers and we want them now!

Wazzer Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Sell the seats and buy a striker! On Ebay, good idea. And where the seats were we could then build a nice rockery with a fancy stream running down it and plant a few shrubs and flowers! Now for me that beats a f**king hotel!
Guest JonR Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I reckon this single game will net SWFC over £1 million
Tyto Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I reckon this single game will net SWFC over £1 million Doubt it ... the sales are great, but a lot of the numbers are made up of season ticket sales. That's money which the club has already been paid, up to a year ago, and which has probably already been spent. If you take the total attendance, minus the season ticket sales, and then multiply by the average ticket price, you should get a decent approximation. I'll stick my neck out and guess at £300k in new revenue from ticket sales. I'm sure Deejay will come along and correct us both, though!

jamsandwich Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Wikipedia has capacity as 39,812 the club has the "available" capacity as 35,277 Meaning there are 4,535 seats unavailable - presumably these are made up of fenced off areas and complementary tickets JAMES - Is anywhere fenced off for the derby game?
