Usually same time as members.

 

I can remember when it was first launched this in 2003, an evening with Chris Turner and Dave Allen at I think was cuttlers hall in Sheffield.

Yes - Will be the same as Memberships it that respect. Although it costs more, but members are also entered into a monthly raffle for cash prizes and tickets.

Says on the website that existing members have already been contacted about new "matchday access" given the change of the Lounge to Hirsty's bar

 

Has anyone had this contact and can share what it is?

Dear Foundation member,

 

Thank you for your continued support of the Owls Foundation.

 

For more than 20 years, the foundation has played an important role in supporting Sheffield Wednesday’s academy, helping young players develop and creating opportunities for future generations to represent our football club.

 

As we look ahead, we’re excited to begin the next chapter of the Owls Foundation.

 

From the 2026-27 season, it is proposed that funds raised will support both Sheffield Wednesday’s academy and the Sheffield Wednesday FC Community Programme, allowing the foundation to make an even greater impact across our communities.

 

We also wanted to update you on one change to your membership.

 

Following the redevelopment of the 1867 Lounge into Hirsty’s Social as part of our wider investment in Hillsborough, Owls Foundation membership will no longer include access to that facility.

 

While we appreciate some members will be disappointed by this change, we’re pleased to offer complimentary priority access to the Wednesday Tap before every home league fixture for the 2026-27 season only.

 

Members will be able to enter from three hours before kick-off until two and a half hours before kick-off by presenting a valid Owls Foundation membership card.

 

All other guests will be able to access the Wednesday Tap from two and a half hours before kick-off and although post-match access is available to Owls Foundation Members, this will be on a first-come, first served basis.

 

Children aged under 16 will also be permitted to access the Wednesday Tap under the supervision of an adult Owls Foundation Member.

 

Most importantly, thank you. Your continued support helps create opportunities on and off the pitch, and we look forward to continuing that journey together throughout the 2026-27 season.

Just had that response as well.

 

Basically you get priority access to the Tap as long as you are there before 12.30. and for next season only

 

Back to pre match in the boozer then......it's not a big deal for me but I can imagine a lot of people will be disappointed as they say in the letter. There's always a few negatives to go with all the positives of a major upheaval like we are going through and it does seem that foundation members are certainly in this category which is a shame but thats life

I think the bar issue is a more than fair compromise. 

 

'Hirsty's' was too big of a space a modest footfall, and is rightly going to be better utilised commercially moving forward. 

 

I think the fact The Wednesday Tap is being offered to foundation members as priority access rather than exclusive usage, shows just how modest the bar takings were in the former foundation lounge (I.E. They'll need general admission still to make it worthwhile opening).

 

Still close enough to help those who may have mobility issues. Can't see much of an issue.

I had and email about it this morning - It then went on the Wednesday website about an hour after

For me personally, it wont make any difference, I don't drink, so never used the 1867 Lounge, and wont use the Wednesday tap.

How many foundation members are there, roughly ?

I went in the 1867 lounge a few times but more often than not it was full with a queue outside so just go elsewhere or go in the ground early. It was very handy at half time though if you were in the South Stand

 

I suspect there were a raft of people there from opening to grab the same tables, turning it into a private members club

 

Will be interesting to see how the Wednesday Tap works, another place where it’s usually a queue to get in unless you arrive hours before kick off

Was in it years ago never really used the 1867 lounge.I can remember when they let anyone in at member or not anyway.

 

For access to the Wednesday tap early it could come in useful for me now.

And at £8.67 a month to support our youth iam in.

We could never go in the Tap as my son is u16. At least now we can go in there with him.
