I'm a mate of David Fords, and we were at the Corporate thing on Monday night. The warmth of the greeting given by David Storch when David Ford was introduced to him was really genuine, and I know that meant a lot to David, who has consistently attended Hillsborough throughout the Chansiri years and been disappointed with the direction of the club.

 

I know David and his wife have been invited tonight and are attending. Davids a lovely fella and all his kids/grandkids have been indoctrinated into the Wednesday Way. This is another example of the club doing the right thing under this new leadership.

Well done Storchyowl, by tapping into this resource that the previous incumbent arrogantly dismissed, you are going about things the right way.

 

History Room / Club Museum, call it what you will open on matchdays is just another positive sign that the club is now in good hands.

Ex players can be our biggest cheerleaders and also help recruit new fans in the family. Look at poor Elsie Bannan bless her.

Interesting throwaway comment by the mayor on RS today. He had lunch with Storchy and the mayor implied that he was interested in investing in the area not just the club and being part of the community. David Storch could not be more different to you know who. A proper businessman and a genuinely nice bloke too.

In terms of the history room, the club would do well to get some fans involved too, people like @dunsbyowl could provide invaluable inside into the history of the club.

On that topic, Mount St. Mary's talk has gone quiet.  It seemed like an exciting idea for Storch to buy it and turn it into a hub for elite sports to train.

 

Last i heard Storch group may have been negotiating with the charity that has purchased some of it, but that was from a green ticker...

I believe they met and were talking this weekend at the headstone event, but either way, yeah, that's a really solid suggestion. We have some amazing people in this fanbase doing incredible work around this clubs history as passion projects, so it would be good for Storch to know who they are and have their ear.

 

Storch's understanding and appreciation of history is the best part of all of this for me. I think it's one of the bigger concerns with the prospect of American ownership, but America does have proud sporting heritage and traditions as much as it gets mocked for its "franchises", and we seem to have landed a guy who really gets it. Chicago is home to some of the longest and best ones (and I bet he has a view on the Bears moving out of down town Soldier Field to a site miles out of the city).

 

This is the stuff that really ties the clubs identity, the sense of community and the pride in our history together. It goes way above simply spending money.

He is a lovely bloke I remember chatting to him at the Ryder Cup in Kentucky and it's nice to know that our new owners are recognizing and acknowledging our old heroes.
