The idea with brinkmanship is that you dig your heels in until the last moment in order to get the best deal.

 

Chansiri never does, though. He pushes it too far and ends up with a worse deal every single time. 

 

Whether it's missing out on a fee for Smith, Windass, Forestieri, Reach...etc...etc, or the fact he ended up paying off Röhl instead of negotiating a release...

 

When it comes to selling the club, it seems he's doing the same - rejecting offers which will most probably dwarf the fee he ends up having to accept, due to the fact he's trashed the club in the meantime. 

 

It's a strategy, but one only a lunatic would employ.

Is it still brinkmanship if you’re stupid…….? Brinkmanship is a deliberate strategy of pushing something to the edge of distaster, Chansiri has zero strategy.
