I'm finally broken.

I like a good many on here am a complete SWFC nutter. I live and breathe SWFC, always have.

 

I live in Hillsborough because of it, my social life and work life have always revolved around it and even my relationships have had to live round it. I got married at Hillsborough, pictures on the pitch etc, 

 

My holidays were always pre-season (or International break), Christmas and Birthday were always about Wednesday.

 

After not missing a game for 40 odd years, having a season ticket for 40 odd consecutive years and god knows how many cup games, away games and friendlies I went cold turkey from attending after Covid and the debacle with the refund. DC had gotten my so angry before this and that was the straw that broke the camels back. How can I hate him and still attend?

 

Since then I have been in full-on 'get DC out of this club mode', despite much derision, many threats and all the hassle that comes with it. I have attended protests and marches and been threatened and spat on. I spend a lot of time on here and other platforms and I'm finally at the point where I just can't be bothered anymore. 

 

Seeing tickets being sold for the Leeds game has finished me, it was the easiest protest in the world, just stay away - but no, supporters want their 'points', they can't see friends or family without going to a game apparently and they will have their pint and Mars Bar and then boast about it later.

 

Well you know what, knock yersen's out, have an effing blast - you deserve everything you get, this ******** club is rotten to the core, and far too many of you are too selfish to care about anything other than yourselves. I will still post on here, but I can't be bothered to argue with you anymore. Like everybody else on here there is loads going on in my life with family health issues and what not, it is just football at the end of the day.

 

I know - wibble, flounce, whatever, but it's ******** soul destroying and way to draining to care anymore.

Throughout this summer, and up to now, people have clung onto the fact that ‘something’ is about to happen.

 

I think that momentum, spurred on by the 3rd/4th false dawn of supposed ITKers getting people hyped, has finally worn off.

 

The reality is that there is absolutely nothing to suggest a takeover is close, and therefore fans need to get (even more) serious about protesting.

 

Cue a takeover announcement in the next 30 minutes now that I’ve said that

If people buy tickets for the Leeds game and we get 10,000 plus there, then there is no hope! Fans are complicit in our downfall by funding his nonsense! If they get it by now then it’s game over!

I'm at that point too. All the false hope has left me so jaded. Dodgy Dej has played a blinder I think.

Put it into perspective. This game would be 20,000+ under normal circumstances, instead we are opening one home stand and have sold 2,500 - with about 4/5,500 realstically available.

 

No club in the country is going to get every fan to stop going. To expect that to happen is DisneyLand stuff.

 

As I said in another thread, we are 8,000 down on the first home game of the season, we've got one stand open against Premier League Leeds United, we've seen the images of empty kiosks vs Stoke, and shirt sales are rock bottom. I, personally, think that's an incredible start to this fight.

Exactly, stay away from the Leeds game and all future away games 

those who attend home games due to having already paid for their season tickets don’t spend any cash at the ground until he is gone

One boycott will make no difference..even if no Wednesday fans turn up at all.

It needs a boycott game after game after game.

That won't happen.

What people need to realise is that there’s so many different personalities, levels of interest and other factors across the fan base that makes it impossible for everyone to feel exactly the same and act in unison. 
 

Some fans have grown up in families where the mentality is that ‘if something gets bought it gets used’. So those fans who have bought season tickets will use them no matter what they think of DC.
 

Some fans will think that it’s not the players fault and will want to support them from the stands to try and encourage the team no matter what.
 

Some fans despise what DC is doing and will want to not attend games or put money into the club and will join organised protests.

 

Some fans won’t like what DC is doing and be worried about the club but might not think protesting will work.
 

Some fans won’t want to tell their young children that they aren’t going to the matches for a while due to DC. They’ll have seen their kids getting enjoyment and seeing that interest in SWFC beginning to grow and won’t want to miss out on those special times with their children, bonding over Wednesday, no matter what the state of the club on and off the pitch. 
 

The above list is obviously not exhaustive but definitely reflects some of the personality types and thought processes amongst fans. 
 

It’s an awful time for us supporters and no matter what our individual reasons for/against attending games, we all want the best for the club now and going forward. 
 

It’s essential that fans (with the same mindset as the OP) try and be open minded enough to accept the different mindsets and not turn it into a us vs them, a protestor vs a non protester, a ‘buy stuff in the ground’ vs a ‘not spend a penny until DC is gone’. What will strengthen DC’s position would be infighting amongst supporters as it can be interpreted that the squabbling is because DC still has supporters.
 

Organise the protests etc by all means and give people the option of joining in, but resist the temptation to use it as a stick to beat other fans with who have a different mindset. Personally I think protests are a positive aslong as done in the right way, but we need to ensure that we don’t turn fan against fan anymore than we already have.

I didn't say 'things' won't work.

I said a one off boycott won't work.....it would take several with very few turning up.

Anyone buying a Leeds ticket for this game must be either doing so for the points or because they are always going to do so no matter what. It’s pointless even trying to engage with them. If they wont boycott this game, a basically meaningless cup game in which we’ll likely get hammered, in front of a terrible crowd, then there’s no hope for them. 
 

The short sighted choices and pathetically weak backbone of some of our fans is really starting to grate on me.
