Bannan's record from the spot isn't the best to be fair.

I reckon it’s better than everyone on our team

Letting a striker who's just scored two, take a pen, doesn't seem ridiculous to me

It was given to him for the wrong reasons

For the sentimental reason of giving him his hat trick

If we were 3-2 up, fair enough, we’re already winning….. but see the game out first.

When you see things like that, it’s usually when the game is won…. Like Arsenal playing Tony Adams up front at the end of that game

Sentimentality was chosen over winning the game, it clouded the judgement when it was only earlier this year we paid for doing the same thing with Ugbo

When you consider everything, it really was a ridiculous decision

What’s McNeil going to be thinking tonight?

Oh great I scored twice today?

Or …. I missed that penalty that ultimately cost us the game?

It's not ridiculous in the slightest

Could happen to anyone

He'd never taken a penalty before in senior football though.

Neither had all the best ever  penalty takers until they took one ......

He'd taken one in a penalty shoot out though, at least.

A very coolly taken one too, as I remember. Panenka-like.

Problem was it was so poorly placed  that if the keeper guessed the right way he going to save it .....it weren't a good pen.

Good pens them so long as the keeper commits to going left or right look a bit of a mug if  he stands still though ...,..if the keeper today had gone the other way we'd have said he coolly  tucked  it away  sadly he didn't ..... A good pen in is the 4 corners  anywhere else if the keeper guesses right he's got a good chance .

Defender deliberately denied a goal scoring opportunity. Surely  a yellow  card, which for the defender would have been a second so a sending off.  Unless you are Wednesday.

I get what you're saying, if he's not on a hat trick he probably doesn't take it, but it just doesn't seem that outlandish that he should take one.

It's not like he was wrestling the ball off Harry Kane.

I expected him to score, he didn't, it happens

To be honest, I don't even like the Panenka penalties, and yeah, I just want to see them go hard and into the corners also.

I suppose my point though was just that he took that penalty in the shootout with supreme confidence, and the other lads out there on the pitch with him I'm sure had enough faith in him that he'd have hit it better than he did.

Just a poorly struck penalty today. And though I've seen worse penalties go in, any keeper at least going the right way was always going to save that.

It happens.
