Do you think NOBODY would have said, why didn't McNeill take it he was on a hat-trick? Some have even made that point already. Well nobody around me did. Nobody could believe that it was given to McNeil. Everybody just knew he was going to miss it. We've seen it play out before v Millwall. 1 1
ChapSmurf Posted Saturday at 20:37 Posted Saturday at 20:37 Can we have a little bit of perspective here people. The penalty was scored, McNeill gets a hattrick, he might kick on and score a few more goals this season and come May, we are relegated. The penalty was missed. McNeill didn't get a hattrick, the two goals might kick start his season and come May, we are relegated. Calm down, take a breath and enjoy your weekend. 1 1
Ronnie Starling Posted Saturday at 20:40 Posted Saturday at 20:40 I don’t know how to break this but there is no guarantee that Bannan would have scored if he had taken the penalty going in his past record. 1 2

Thats the first one we have had all season so why assume it’s Bannan. It was actually Inglesson who had the ball in his hands waiting before giving it to McNeill.

After the Ugbo debacle last season this was totally baffling - and more worrying that Pederson didn't acknowledge that afterwards. How do you know Bannan is the designated penalty taker? 1

I think if you are upset at your piggy mates taking the pish out of you then you must be very thin skinned.

How many has he missed for us. I think I can remember one. He's been rock solid whenever we've had a penalty shootout.

Geed him up though, think we were a goal down at the time but he played like a man possessed after that and we won 3-1. I'd have thought that Bannan, Lowe, perhaps Palmer, and it actually looked like Ingelsson who was going to take it, would've been ahead of McNeill in the pecking order of those on the pitch. If the game was safe then fine, let McNeill go for the hat trick, but as with the Ugbo one when it's in the balance don't mess about and go with the designated order. 1

Newsflash people we are getting another points deduction and already are effectively relegated. 1
PortlandOwl Posted Saturday at 21:39 Posted Saturday at 21:39 Bannan's record from the spot isn't the best to be fair.

Scored 4 for us (curiously all resulted in 1-0 wins), missed 3. 43% miss rate, no it's not great. As far as I can remember he's scored plenty and never missed in shootouts though. It's still a better success rate than McNeill, who's tied with Ugbo on 100% missed.

Yep when the pressure is on you'd want Bannan to take it.
