Bromley is the most important club in the world to Bromley fans.

Who are you to tell them that you would rather job for Man City?

Not with the Hubble telescope could you zoom in and detect any interest I have in Bromley

not even the football club…. The whole thing

And I last watched (half of) a Premiership match in 2011, whilst hungover in the sports book area of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.  I remember because it was the same day Jordan Rhodes put four goals past us for Huddersfield, which would have been a much more entertaining match for them to have on.

Just to put this one point right at the top: I’m a casual fan. I often represent the “floater” fan.

I was a toddler when we won the League Cup, and not even a teenager the last time we were any good in the Premier League.

The first time we dropped into League One in the 00s, I’d drifted away from Wednesday and football entirely. My first real memory of it all was basically: “We’ve done what…? We’re getting relegated from the second tier??”

And that really cemented my wilderness years, where I could barely name a player. It was the play-off win to get out that pulled me back in. It kind of recalibrated me to not expect Premier League football and just enjoy a new phase—however sad. But I also thought that was it.

Fast forward to our second spell down there… I’d started going again, went to nearly every home game in 10/11 and a few away. But I HATED it—the whole third-tier vibe and the teams. Still, I was firmly back as an Owl.

Then I got a season ticket for the next season, the promotion one over the pigs… and I vowed to never follow us again in L1. Thought that was the end of that.

Then it happened again, and I wanted to ignore us until we got back up. BUT we were actually decent, Moore was great, and I ended up watching intently. It was more exciting than a Championship relegation scrap or a boring mid-table finish. But still—I said never again.

Last time we came up I vowed never ever ever ever again.

And this time…

EUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

How can I not follow every game if it’s the dawn of a new era? But it kills me. It kills me because it was SO avoidable, and it kills me because I promised myself I’m not wasting my finite time on this planet watching Forest Green, Dagenham & Redbridge, Yeovil... you get the picture.

MK fkn Dons.
AGAIN.
AGAIN WITH THIS.

Watching highlights where you can see terraced houses behind a stand. The inevitable slip-ups against teams you’ve never even heard of. Meanwhile a division below bloody Wrexham.

Being BANG in form then losing away in a “derby” to Rovrum and watching the whole thing fall to bits.

Then!!! There’s always some OTHER team down with us like Norwich, plus some random new-money southern team that just tears the league apart so even with 90+ points you still don’t get automatic.

The fixtures come out and your heart sinks. Who even are these teams? How are we even playing them?

I’m now looking at L1 hoping Barnsley go up just so we’re not scrapping with them and having high-stakes derbies.

We’ve also come up in the second season each time, which feels a bit lucky to be honest—statistically another play-off win isn’t very likely.

Again… again… are you actually kidding me?

I have one more stint in L1 in me. And it’s only because the tyrant imbecile has finally gone. But please, for the love of God…
no more.

“…but apart from that, Mrs Kennedy, how did you enjoy the parade?”

lol

said it many times before and I’ll inevitably say it many times in future - the only way to ride this particular rollercoaster is to treat it like a soap opera we’re all hooked on. The heroes, the villains, the absolutely batshitmental plot lines…it’s a lifetime of ‘entertainment’, it’s gonna have its ups and downs but essentially it’s just a crazy story we’re all watching, nobody knows where it’s headed so let’s just lock in and find out!

Have quite enjoyed the seasons in League 1 given we have been hopeless every season in the championship for 25 years bar the ones in which we cheated the FFP rules under DC and Carlos.  Only the first season under Laws were we actually competitive in the top half of the championship without cheating.

its nice winning games and challenging at the top of the league. A win against Northampton in league 1 is as good as a win against Charlton in the championship in my eyes

I dunno if this helps but we’re not getting anywhere near 90 points next season

Bemoans the arrogance of our fanbase by condescendingly referring to the clubs mentioned as ‘little clubs’ 😂

Brilliant.

The size of Wednesday is up for discussion. Forest Green, Dagenham and Yeovil would also describe themselves as small, it's not condescending at all

on a plus side

the pigs were never gonna drop but when they started bad i was like oh please god no...... the last thing we need is them in l1 with us

we really need as many good teams to stay up as possible

if we came right back in one season it will be a laugh but if we are down for 3-4, we will be turning on the new owners

channers for all his faults actually did us very well in l1 lmao

It was largely due to his incompetence we ended up there!

If we can get new owners settled in early New Year they will have plenty of time to plan.

We’ll be a big fish in a small pond again and should able to attract some decent options, all things permitting and nothing of course guaranteed.  If we can manage this I don't see us staying there for too long.

TIL thinking the 12th most successful club in English football is too good to be in the third tier, playing Bromley 🤣… is arrogant

Christ, another one hanging on to a minor cup win 35 years ago.

An entire generation of football fans don't even know we've ever played in the premier league. And they don't care. They only know of us as a championship/league one yoyo team.

So they’re a ‘small club’ because they’ve got a small fan base, small stadiums and never won anything.

But we’re not a big club even though we have a large stadium, big fan base and have won a load of honours.

Makes sense.
