I’ve always been of the opinion that our next stint in League 1 is going to be one where we stay for quite a while and looking at the current situation, our first ever stint in League 2 is not out of the question.

I think we are very much in the hands of the EFL. They play hardball with us over continued sanctions and we start the 2027/28 season in League 2.

We’ve been in the 3rd tier 4 times (so far), I’m old enough to see all 4 promotions, every single one was spectacular, 2 of them pipping them lot to go up.

I remember when we got relegated in 2000 from the Premier League the expectation was 2 or 3 years in the Championship and then we would get back up.

People would have been horrified that we would be in League 1 (or whatever it was called then) after 3 seasons.

No one would believe it will be a minimum now of FOUR relegation to League 1 before we get back to the top flight.

I think we’re in the  post-Chansiri’s gone doldrums where we all need the next bit of good news. It’s not happening on the pitch obviously, so we just have to be patient and await the announcement from the administrators. I’m just hoping it’s gonna be one of the best Christmas presents ever, so that Boxing Day will be a day of celebration, although I can’t come up until the Portsmouth match.

Yeah that's what all the pigs are hoping

I don’t get posts like this

It’s why other teams fans call us deluded.

In football you tend to be where you deserve so even if we don’t deserve to be in League one due to Chancer - we should not be disrespectful to other teams that are there.

We have been in League one (or bottom end championship trying to avoid relegation there)  more often in the last 25 years than anywhere else

Every chance of it though, isn’t there? Unless we can recruit properly we’re going to be stuck there longer than 2 years.

I'm not sure there will be any new grounds that we've not played at next season

Northampton is the only current L1 ground I've not seen us play at, we haven't played there for nearly 50 years other than a midweek friendly a few years ago.   Only other chance of a new ground, other than the cups, is if the likes of Bromley, Salford, Barnet get promoted.

The thought of League One is always much worse than the reality of it.

This.

I'd go as far as saying I'm looking forward to it.

If the takeover goes to plan we'll be strong.

My kids are just getting into football and supporting Wednesday.

I'll take them to Hillsborough and we'll score some goals, win a lot and they won't give a fizz what division we're in.

Happy days.

That's just what your hoping...everyone else are looking forward to the new regime using the last 5 months of the season to make sure we hit next season running

I guess 50 years ago it would have been at Wantage Road when they groundshared with Northants Cricket club.

I can’t bear league one, just like the OP I find that level of football difficult to watch regularly. There’s been a few times when I’ve come out of Hillsborough in our league one seasons, even when we’ve won, thinking I don’t know if I’ve got the stomach for much more of that. But the vast majority of my favourite memories of supporting us come in league one. I was at Brentford away when we went 2nd and as an away day you’ll do well to top that. And the Peterborough play-off game I’m confident will never be beat as a live game I’ve watched, no matter how good we get - ‘4-0 is a mountain that will be insurmountable’ and all that. When games like that happen it makes you realise football is football no matter what the level. Also with this absolute car crash of a season we’ve had this year I think it’ll make next season a lot more appealing. Just get us out of this league and on to next season, hopefully in good hands and winning games again.
