The OP suggests it won’t take long for questions to be raised of the new owners’ ambitions / plans. And again it depends who eventually owns us, they might not necessarily be mega rich but willing to invest in the right places, they could be minted but absolute tight a rses let's see who takes us over first.
wakefieldowl Posted Saturday at 12:09 Posted Saturday at 12:09 If we get a “revolutionising “ new owner like we all hope, then I think the change will be very quick I think they will put together a squad to not only win league 1 but to be good enough to push straight through the championship . They know a successful team will sell out Hillsborough. other facilities will also be implemented straight away. The ground may take longer while they work out our best options i think we are in for a breathtakingly exciting time so get ready folks!

Then price the tickets to sell out as much as possible in home stands and West upper. Always think fans in west lower make the ground look better and atmosphere improve. Distracts from how dated that end looks when its empty.

Support will gradually decline without genuine Premier League aspirations - so many other things now compete for people’s time and money. It will take a couple of years to stabilise, but Champ play-offs or Premier League in 5 years sounds like a plan. Whilst the Premier League is by no means perfect, it will certainly be the ambition of any new owner. I get the impression some fans would prefer the Championship as it’s easier to park, quicker to get to the bar and shorter queues for their Beres. Plenty of 'future generations' are turning out for non-league sides all over the country so... yes? I'm sure any prospective owner, especially if it turns out to be some rich Yank or Middle Eastern war criminal, will be all about the HyperFranchiseMoneylaunderingBall, but Sheffield still having the football club that is part of the soul of the city is far more important. 1
owlinexile Posted Saturday at 13:50 Posted Saturday at 13:50 (edited) Tbh I also feel like I'm reliving 10 years ago, when we were building nicely and steadily and improving year on year, but half the fans were getting overexcited that there was suddenly a bit of cash to spend and letting the new owner get away with murder, making excuses as he immediately binned off all his advisers, sacked the manager and let a literal child pick his replacement, and brought in the most batshit mental pricing structure imaginable. Not sure I understand your point or what you want for the club, other than for it to exist. Like you, I would not happy with Newcastle style ownership and hope whichever bidder is successful can move the club forward at the same time as forging strong links with the community.

The cakeball should have been the omen. A cake and a fkin ball. That was just the tip of iceberg. 1

Existing is literally the point. That wasn't (and still isn't, tbh) a given. Assuming a takeover happens smoothly, it's going to take a herculean effort and a lot of investment even to return the club to the state it was in on the day Chansiri took over, ticking over as a middling Championship club. That's the only thing we need to worry about at present.

Having watched Wednesday since the 70’s, my takeover expectations (maybe like your own) are relatively modest - get the club organised in a more professional manner and start to win a few games in League One. Not sure that will be enough to attract new supporters in future. A bit of stability would be great as a starting point, but will need success at some point down the line to grow and attract new support.
