If the embargo stood for the new owners it wouldn't make sense, it would be like selling them a car but refusing to give them the keys

Completely agree, but this is the EFL we're talking about.

I think admin helps our case, acts as a reset and also affords the mitigation of certain relegation.

I presume the new owners once in place can apply to the EFL to have the fee restrictions lifted.

I’d image that would be one of the first things they do.

Fully understand why the restrictions are currently in place, but difficult to justify with owners who would be able to pay on time.

There might even be a chance of the fee restrictions being lifted in the summer, depending on what the new owners can provide the EFL regarding financial guarantees.

Certainly not a given, but it's been discussed.

The club can appeal the fee restriction regardless of ownership

From the EFL website:

”Unlike an embargo, a Fee Restriction isn’t lifted upon payment of the outstanding debt, but can be appealed by Clubs.”

The current restrictions won't really be a problem, and the EFL won't likely put up much resistance to lifting them.

And they won't really care that much about lifting them anyway because they'll have an equally effective way of controlling our expenditure.

There'll be a 2 year period post-administration under which we'll be bound by a tight business plan with the EFL.

We'll technically be able to pay fees for players, but we'll almost certainly not be doing that as it would seriously limit how many other players we'd be able to bring in.

I think it's a good thing anyway. We got out of League One last time pretty much off the back of free transfers, after all. The main thing though is that it gives the new owners time to really focus on all the infrastructure that needs investment (for which they'll not face restriction limits).
