Coventry are ranked at 28th. We are ranked at 14th most successful in terms of major trophies with 8. Coventry are ranked at 44th with 1. So, are you saying there’s not much in it.

This isn’t like the chansiri takeover where you could potentially paper over the cracks and hit the big leagues by just chucking some money at the 1st team. There’s no prospect of that without a long term view.
Bassetts Allsorts Posted Friday at 12:47 Posted Friday at 12:47 Like Cov. They are the blueprint to follow and hopefully our new owners will get it right. Not sure I agree that we are a "much bigger club". Historically yes, but currently we're worlds apart as they are averaging close to 30k and destined for the Premier League.
Albertowl Posted Friday at 12:58 Posted Friday at 12:58 Said on here for years that they would be the next Brighton/Brentford. All down to terrific recruitment and knowing when to sell on and reinvest, together with a smart owner (Norwich supporter btw) who engaged with the fan base and the city from day one. moving back to the city after being forced to play at Northampton and Brum gave them the impetus and goodwill to take advantage of, which they have in spades. Just like Wednesday should have done post Wembley. Pains me as I live and work with Cov fans but I’ve said all season they would win the league by a country mile.

You can't pick and choose what stats to use when looking back. Yes but people do. Especially politicians. Coventry were playing at Northampton Town with crowds under 5k not many years ago. Think the fans were boycotting the club over some long running disagreement about the Ricoh Arena. Anyways , they've got a top manager now and seem to know what they're doing. Far and away the best team in the Championship from what I've seen on Sky. Might be a long road back for us but if we get the right rich bloke with an actual sensible forward plan, we might one day be like Coventry (never thought I'd say that). I was 12 years old when I saw Wednesday win a league championship. I'm 78 now and I reckon it's about time we saw another, even if it's just EFL1 to begin with. I'd like to think we could be another Man C but with our luck, I'd settle for Wrexham at the moment. 1

109Waddle Posted Friday at 13:25 Posted Friday at 13:25 Just goes to show how significant the outcome of this administration is going to be. As a typical Wednesday fan, the closer we get to next Friday the more nervous I am that we’re somehow not going to end up with type of new owners we all want.

ChapSmurf Posted Friday at 14:39 Posted Friday at 14:39 I think we need to get over this mentality of "we are a big club, therefore we should be doing XYZ". As the old saying goes, it's not about the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog. Or to bring it back to topic, the way a club is structured and ran. The size of our home and away following has no relevance to anything other than attendance, right now. It's not a devine right to be pushing our way past other clubs because we are somehow bigger, and therefore better. Coventry, alongside myriad others, have shown how a football club can be successful, if run right. We'll get there eventually, and once we do, then the size of our support could play a key role, financially, to push on to the next stage. 1 1
Beauchief Owl Posted Friday at 14:40 Posted Friday at 14:40 Last season we won at Coventry, lost at home when Beadle dropped a ball a 12year old should have caught in the last minute and lost on penalties in the Cup. Almost equals in fact, if only the Cancer had sold up six to eight months ago well who knows!
Kopparberg Posted Friday at 14:57 Posted Friday at 14:57 Good post @ChapSmurf We’re currently in administration and face a long road back to real heights, so the willy measurement contest isn’t that important One thing I predicted when the supervillain was here was that we’d end up like Coventry unfortunately did playing at other grounds - looks like we’ll avoid that debacle thank god - something went in our favour 1 1
