Does the wage limit of about £7k still apply? If so it could be the short contract is so he can renegotiate his deal when the new owners are in charge. 

Other than that it could be that we are going for the short contract because the new owners might have their own ideas on whay players they want and the admin team don't want to lumber them with players they might not want in their team.

Redmond looks like a good catch for us if he can stay free of injury. He's no spring chicken but should have a few years left in him. I'd have given him a 2 year deal and an option for us to extend for another year.
