Worthing_owl Posted Wednesday at 22:44 Posted Wednesday at 22:44 I think McNeil will be one of the players who drifts around for a little while, then eventually out of pro football altogether 1 2
Deluded Owl Posted Wednesday at 22:47 Posted Wednesday at 22:47 I don’t think Pedersen grasps that this squad will look very different next season. Recruitment restrictions could still be in place so he really needs to be getting some minutes into players who are more likely to be here next season. This season’s a write off so we should be at least trying to source some green shoots for recovery next time around. Another question mark against the manager for me. 1 1
ItzzOwl Posted Wednesday at 23:28 Posted Wednesday at 23:28 Have a feeling McNeil could be a big player for us next season, assuming he stays. Perhaps not quite at champ level in terms of consistency, but has moments where he shows nice bits of quality. Unlucky to not score tonight, it’ll come. 3

Not sure he was MOM but he put himself about and was key to much of our attacking play. Agree. MOM, not sure about that, but I thought we at least had a bit of a different energy going forward tonight. I know all the focus with our problems upfront is on Ugbo at the minute but I think Lowe is drifting at the minute as well. Don’t think McNeil was any worse tonight.

You really have it in for Pedersen don't you? He's doing the best he can with what he's got. That's not much. He will be waiting for the new owners to take over. Once that happens he should be able to get some players in to strengthen the squad. The new owners will decide whether to keep Pedersen or replace him. Personally I think he's doing well in the situation he's been given. 5

I just can't make my mind up about him. With his background he should be more self confident and assert himself more. There's flashes of class and some bits that look very average. Worth trying in L1 he might thrive at that level. 1

I’ve praised him often enough this season. In the various posts where I’ve been critical, I’ve also stated that he’s got his hands tied behind his back, legs tied together and blindfolded too. Thing is regardless of the lack of quality on the bench he owes it to his senior pros in particular who are playing 90 minutes most games to protect them more particularly in three game weeks. These players are struggling both with physical and mental fatigue and this season will f**k them up for the next 2 or 3 campaigns it’s that simple. The manager should be looking to limit this damage as much as possible and let’s be honest he talks enough about the human side of a player. If you think I’m having a go then fair enough but if you look at him on the touchline last night he looked as drained as the players, gone is the enthusiasm and drive he showed at the start of the campaign. Understandable really but as you say he’s the manager. He’s doing a good job in the circumstances but all I’m saying he needs to trust his bench more and limit the damage being done to his players the best he can. 1
Inspector Lestrade Posted Thursday at 06:02 Posted Thursday at 06:02 The chances on improving the squad this season to a higher level is very slight. We may have periods of decent form but it will only be at the level of getting a draw or as last night a more improved performance and only losing by the odd goal. Pep and co would desperately struggle with resources we have available.

Rogers Posted Thursday at 07:07 Posted Thursday at 07:07 The slow shift from Ingelsson to McNeil as a saviour has commenced.
McRightSide Posted Thursday at 08:00 Posted Thursday at 08:00 In reality, Pedersen shouldn’t really be criticized too much for not picking this player or that one He’s got 5 players (Bannan, Cooper, Amass, Valery, Lowe) that are good Championship players, a handful who are experienced but inadequate at this level (Palmer, Iorfa, Lowe, Ugbo, Ingelsson) and the rest look nowhere near Its hard enough for him to fashion a decent XI to compete, nevermind be able to make changes during the game 3
Kew Owl Posted Thursday at 08:16 Posted Thursday at 08:16 Perhaps give Thornton at least 10 minutes on the pitch next game - I really can’t see there’s much point in bringing him on in the 90th minute when there’s just added injury time left ?

I can only assume you lot are watching different matches to me because he's been one of our better players this season despite his lack of experience and support. One of the very few players in our team who has the pace to play at a high level. The lad's improving every game and did very well in a very tough assignment last night against two very good players down that flank. He'll have a very good career at Championship level or above, easily. 1 2 1
