The issue I see with using the old Woodhead line is that at Oughtibridge, Wharncliffe Side, Deepcar, the line is quite far away from the populated areas. Even at Neepsend it's an awkward location. And to get to Hillsborough College from the line, it's a good 1/2 km away and would require a bridge over the Don.

Who ever is going to be the next owner of SWFC, is going to make one of two choices in the next few years, Either stay and re-develop S6 or as it seems more and more likely, start to plan for a new stadium. Hillsborough in my view is now outdated and we need to move with the times. Yes redevelop. Level the west stand, heavily modify north, round the corners off where score board is.. 1

When I used to knock about down there as a kid. There was a bridge over the Don behind the dog track. Just checked it’s still there.

That said - Would a brand new West Stand with rounded corners and improved facilities at the back , offer better experience for supported for it to become the new Kop ? 1

Do we know what the council told one takeover bid incumbent - what / where available areas are available for potential new stadium development, yet?

Looks like a shopping centre where they’ve forgotten to put the roof on. I hope with all the passion I’ve got for this club, that we don’t move to a lego bowl/shopping centre. 1

Not new kop just new rounded both corners west stand, away fans in nw corner depending on visitors following... Kop needs work doing at the back to so does South in parts but would be magnificent when done.. Oh and another big scoreboard on north east corner..
Paul1867 Posted Thursday at 13:56 Posted Thursday at 13:56 While I would love to stay at Hillsborough as it has so many good memories, tradition, and is an old traditional stadium, I think that the time is right to eventually move on. I’m not comparing us to Man City, but using them as an example as mentioned here previously, they will have likely not wanted to move from Maine Road but look at what they have now - a fantastic stadium, training and academy complex. I don’t think they would want to go back to Maine Road but would probably look back in fondness at the place. I think if we stay long term at Hillsborough we just won’t be able to compete with other teams training facilities, stadium facilities match and non-match day revenues. Looking back at the developments we have had at Hillsborough over the years, such as the now dilapidated cantilever North stand, if we took the side of “keep with tradition,” mentality we wouldn’t have had those developments. I’d like Wednesday to have a stadium we could be proud of, something that would be fit to hold cup semi finals. We need to have every advantage that modern stadia and training facilities offer these days otherwise we are going to be handicapped in the long-term. Although, with a heavy heart, I think a move away is best, I don’t think that a new owner should move too hastily. If we end up with owners that have fairly deep pockets and are ambitious i think they should consolidate, renovate Hillsborough with a view to move in the next decade or so. It may be wise for them to see what sort of crowds we would get in the PL, if we do get there, as that could significantly impact the scope of a new stadium. 4

Silverwood pit site, i could walk it there, it would be smashing. It's all very quiet on the council front which is sensible till everything is sorted. But I hope they are incredibly welcoming to the new owners, the possibility of pumping large amounts of money into the local economy must be opportunity not to be missed. 1
The Wednesday Posted Thursday at 16:32 Posted Thursday at 16:32 Pointless redeveloping Hillsborough, every stand needs redoing and capacity would be down whilst each one is rebuilt, just keep playing there whilst we build a new ground 1

Get what you are saying completely - but didn't Man City get it on the cheap because of the Commonwealth Games - our only sporting legacy building was knocked down...
the monk Posted Thursday at 16:49 Posted Thursday at 16:49 Im not for moving but just to put my two penthouse in - If its not already been suggested, what about sounding out the council as to replacing the accousticslly abysmal Sheffield Arena Replace with retractable roof stadium complete with parking ( for those that love to get stuck after the game for an hour rather than walk for ten minutes). Bars and restaurant's in the area ,M1 Buses ,Trams, Trains all whilst blowing venue competition Leeds and Nottingham out of the water. I thank you Shame about leaving a 100k catchment area 1

I thank you Shame about leaving a 100k catchment area I think that would be a great visionary plan, and I think we need to be thinking of innovative ways we can enhance and further the long term prospects of the club. What you suggest would also have a broader city-wide impact and would see the city getting more events, concerts etc. while raising the profile of the Sheffield. How feasible this is is another matter and I doubt we would do this... but I would love to see it 1 1
