It’s not the council that runs the tram network. We used to an almost utopia transport network before a certain lady destroyed it (no politics). going on Nottingham costs of their tram, it cost £66 million per mile to lay. There are plans to run trams on the line out to Stocksbridge. That would run yards from 3 of the locations suggested in this thread. 1 1

No stands were demolished in their redevelopment, so they’re all stands which have been extended. The old main stand at Anfield was completely demolished to build the new 3 tier stand The Kop was demolished in the 90's to make way for the new one. I think their owners FSG are maybe already regretting the decision not to carry through with their decision to abandon the new stadium project for Stanley Park. There's no room to expand Anfield any more and they are thinking the current 61K capacity isn't enough. 1

If nothing else, the Leppings Lane end can have a long-overdue memorial in its place. Already a memorial in place x 2

TheGaffer Posted Wednesday at 19:56 Posted Wednesday at 19:56 Will people stop doing the AI generated stadium ideas. Even ignoring the fact that the are crap and by definition soulless and repetitive of previous designs. It's simply pointless. Come with ideas of what you would want from a new stadium by all means. That's crowd sourcing and a great start. Beyond that, we have no idea what may happen....but ..... please stop with the chat gpt crap Please WAWAW 1 2 1

Apologies, you’re right about the Kop, but the main stand was expanded by removing the roof and adding a third tier. The street behind was demolished. Prior to that the Kemlyn Road stand had an extra tier added to it and latterly the Anfield Road End had another tier added. So only the Kop was completely demolished. I think the owners have created a great stadium retaining the footprint of the original. 2

How many concerts have been held at Premier League stadiums in the last 10 years? Has there been any at Anfield, St James Park, Elland Road, Villa Park, to name a few. The few bands that can sell out stadiums will stick to Wembley, Manchester and Glasgow, they have the transport links including airports, Sheffield does not. There may be the odd band that would do other stadiums, but they are few and far between. You also missed out the point that Yorkshire has a massive hole for a good arena that can hold not just gigs but boxing ( which Sheffield has a huge past) darts and snooker ( when the leave the crucible as its too small ) And the point is that transport links would be put into a new stadium 1 1

No mate, the plan is to use the old Woodhead line, creating a completely new tram route, servicing Kelham, Neepsend, Hillsborough College, Wadsley Bridge, Oughtibridge, Wharncliffe Side, Deepcar and Stocksbridge.

Who ever is going to be the next owner of SWFC, is going to make one of two choices in the next few years, Either stay and re-develop S6 or as it seems more and more likely, start to plan for a new stadium. Hillsborough in my view is now outdated and we need to move with the times. 1 2
