Out of tune atmosphere killers. It would take some people time to adjust from being spoon fed which songs to sing, but very quickly the match day atmosphere would improve without them.

We do just fine away from home with no band.

I disliked them when they started in the 90s and still don't like them. My mate and I used to sit near them on the Kop. We were so tempted to sneak in a Stanley knife and cut through the bastarding drum skin!

Should have gone a long time ago.

Yes they can help create an atmosphere occasionally and it would take time to adapt, due to some people waiting for the band to play before signing etc.

But long term I think it would create a much better atmosphere without them.

Never liked them.

Seem to remember that season ticket holders were able to vote if we wanted them to stay or go sometime in the early 2000s. I voted to have them gone, but was surprised to see they survived.
Can anyone back this up, or did I dream it?

We did but it was a little bit designed in the bands favour if I remember right. There were 3 options. Bring back (Dave Allen had got rid), continue with no band or have them for certain games. I think the results were 30 odd % for each option with bringing the band back winning slightly. Meaning 60 odd % didn't want the band at every game but that's what we got. LS did it I think when he took over. Did it with good intentions, like everything else he did but he got this wrong imo.

I seem to remember the options were to keep them, get rid of them, or have them continue in a ‘toned down’ version.

The toned down version won, but it didn’t last long and soon they ended up back to their full number (and then bigger than ever after that)

You might be right there. I definitely remember 3 options.

Their absence was wonderful.  They were past their sell by date decades ago.  I hope they never return.

Dude are you 300 years old or what?

Still had a band playing in the early 1970s.

They used to play in front of the South Stand.

In the same way as the hundreds of those around me can't clap in time for the beginning of 'Hi-ho' - Just saying.

Feel for the England Fans that have to sit and suffer at the hands of the Band when they play at Wembley. 🙄

It's one of the things that's put me off going to England matches.

Sometimes watching an England match at Wembley on TV they're all you can hear. Bloody awful!
