‘The fans are the club’ — am I right ?

In the sense that, fans hold a lot of power.
 

More than they think they do. 
 

Protesting works to accelerate sales. It works to get coverage of the situation. It means actually standing up to owners. 
 

No owner wants zero money coming in and zero people in their ground / shop etc.. no matter how rich and stupid the owners are. 
 

The fans can show to the owners: we’ve lost total faith in you and will never back you again. 
 

SO….  indirectly, if the fans save the club, the club is the fans. 

You'd think that but Man United fans haven't been successful in getting rid of the Glazers.

Manchester United are in the awkward position of supporting a global super power brand. Lads from Salford can be as effective as they can be but for every boycotted seat or shirt not sold, there is a tourist wanting to take their place or another 10 shirts sold in South East Asia.

It’s a different battle for them in terms of the importance of the local fanbase and the worldwide brand. Should be said that the former of those groups have been extremely impactful at protesting, up to and including having games obstructed and abandoned.

Too many glory hunter fans follow that club though.

Man Utd would probably still sell 50k tickets a game with 0 people from Manchester going.

It’s why the elite don’t want season tickets. They want the tourists flocking and paying £70 a ticket on the day.

hold a lot of power IF we all pull in the same direction… which we seemingly aren’t as there are still thousands putting money into the club. 

I used to think Fans were the club but football changed that much in last few years I dont feel this anymore.

Game a elite levels has been hijacked by mega rich to earn more money, fuel egos and in some cases sportswashing.

Yeah but we’re a special case and in no way can our situation be compared to any other club…..or summat
