CalmJimmers Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Thought we didn't play bad against Andorra, and for a few saves could have been 2 or 3 more. I dont get the whole 'shouldn't play against inferior opponents'. Should they not be allowed to go through qualifiers? You cant do qualifiers for qualifiers as it just adds more of a burden to teams who have barely a professional player in their ranks.
Beighton Owl 87 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 It was a boring match to watch. Think tomorrow's game will be good against decent opposition though.

An Andorran will feel the same pride pulling on his national shirt. This is the one plus to the nations league is that these nations get to play similar ranked opponents and have a chance to win games. It was great seeing San Marino pick up a win recently. They all deserve to be part of the qualification process. 2

A couple more of them young lads should be in and around the first team squad rather than calling up 30+ year old has beens/never was players!! Yeah, but Quansah, Livramento and Anderson were all called up for this round of games. Anderson played as well. 1

I fully agree and we should see more of it in my opinion and Anderson is living and recent proof of it been a success. Its ok saying these young lads don't have experience of first team international football, but if you can't trust them and throw them in against Andorra at home, then when and how do you build their experience? For me personally i experienced every emotion with Southgate...wasn't overly impressed with the initial appointment, grew to like him, really respected what he did (and enjoyed watching England again), then followed by "time to go" you've had your turn. However, what Southgate (and Carsley) worked on is the U21 system, that again, in my opinion is now been overlooked with sole focus on the next tournament.
DCFCOwls Posted September 8 Posted September 8 We aren't doing to bad when you match it against Italy, who haven't qualified for the past 2 and are serious bother this time around as well , might not even finish 2nd in a group containing Estonia, Moldova , Norway and Israel.

Crazy game tonight, just gone 5-4 up just after blowing a 4-2 lead in the space of a couple of minutes. When were England that entertaining?

Brilliant game , Italy making very heavy work of it but very entertaining And we haven't been that entertaining ever in my time watching , maybe Keegan at Euro 2000

Cpt_Hatstand Posted September 10 Posted September 10 I would suggest the complete lack of atmosphere in the stadium played a big part in the tedium too
