daleblue Posted August 21 Posted August 21 Just watching SimonJordan, he thinks in the next decade there will be a second premier league to run concurrently, if this happens how will it affect the Championship, will that be league 1? Who then wins the Premier league, is there a playoff, and how would you seed teams into the 2 leagues, with World Club football becoming even bigger (100 million for the winner), according to Simon gone is the traditional Sat 3 o'clock ,and football will be kicking off at all different hours. I found it very interesting. Thoughts anyone.
JohnnyQuinnsQuiff Posted August 21 Posted August 21 And all I can say to Simon ‘Guru’ Jordan is….. No sh!t Sherlock!
Fairy Tail Owl Posted August 21 Posted August 21 Simon Jordan talks so much poo people just like him because he uses big words.
Skyline Posted August 21 Posted August 21 I'd be happy to see the "Top 4" bugger off and form this Super League, personally. 2
sheffield_dave Posted August 21 Posted August 21 (edited) I think Simon Jordan is right and I've posted very similar on here over the last couple of years. I think the game will soon receive a substantial shakeup in terms of the relationship between the "top end" and the rest. I think the traditional model we're all used to of a domestic game with 4 main divisions + 2 cup competitions has a shelf life. I can very easily see a scenario where the top 40-50 clubs in the country break off to form a renewed Premier League structure - a closed shop of 2 divisions that compete as part of a more globally aligned structure - with similar restructuring across the other major leagues for parity. The Super League was just the start. The solution to "there is too much football" isn't going to be to get rid of the Club World Cup or Nations League. It'll be to refine the entire structure of the league and cups in favour of where the money is and cutting adrift anyone not involved. Edited August 21 by sheffield_dave
daleblue Posted August 21 Author Posted August 21 I agree, I believe the Premier league will try and reduce numbers initially, but this probably rejected by its members, with Club World wide competition's becoming the norm there comes a time that the domestic versus global collide, where's the money, you can guarantee that clubs want the money.
owls89 Posted August 21 Posted August 21 The main shake up to English football will most probably see the American owners voting as a block to play some games in the States.
