SiJ Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Classic Brendan Rodgers. Gets to the third or fourth season and the performances start to dip and he goes into self preservation mode. Not sure Dermot Desmond's scorched earth approach will work out particularly well for them, but we have been here before with Rodgers. O'Neil coming back at 72 years of age is wild, albeit in a caretaker role. He was on Talksport yesterday saying how he thought Hearts might win the league lol.
matthefish2002 Posted October 28 Posted October 28 That statement is quite damming on Brendan Rodgers. Wonder if he will reply or has an NDA in place preventing him, would be a bit unfair he cant defend himself. 1

Rodgers ego will mean he'll have to respond. 1
g-owls Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Don’t go back for Ange. A change of direction is needed. I wouldn’t mind the guy at Bodo/Glimt, who’s done wonders in Norway, but I also wouldn’t be disappointed with Craig Bellamy, who’s already well versed in having to make the best of what he’s got with the talent pool in Wales. McKenna, ten Hag and Solsjkaer all being linked too. Interesting times in regard what direction they turn, and for the boards sake, it has to be the right one as anything other than that will only increase the pressure on them. 1

He did call Rangers a basket case though, so I guess he at least scored some points. Unreal to think it will be O'Neil vs Danny in the Old Firm this weekend. Who could have predicted that a few weeks ago?

They really do need to break out of the Ange, Lennon, Rogers loop. They are now recycling managers from over 20 years ago!

Not sure how to take the news of O'Neill being appointed - football moved on from him years ago and there's a reason why clubs aren't wanting to take a punt. I suspect its really Maloney in charge with O'Neill being the face of the operation. I'm quietly looking forward to sunday - admittedly we've got to get tomorrow out the way first. Really interested to see how Röhl faces tomorrow.
ossettowl Posted October 28 Posted October 28 O'Neill does seem an odd appointment on the face of it, i guess with the Rangers game on the horizon they wanted a recognised Celtic man in as a way of bringing the fans together 1

Puts an interesting dynamic on the all glasgow semi final however. As for Rangers and Röhl in Edinburgh tomorrow I think it will be back down to earth with a bump. I don’t like predicting the poo to win but I think they’ll do it at home. 1

Im hoping they appoint Maloney full time Röhl had me laughing today - first question of his conference was regarding Rodgers which he answered with a massive grin on his face. Weirdly, I think tomorrow is tougher than Saturday. Not sure the likes of Meghoma, Rothwell, Diomande, Aasgaard, Danilo, Chermitti, Moore and co will fancy the battle. 1

I don't think he's had a managerial job since he was at Forest back in 2019? O'Neil was once a really good manager, but his time is long gone. Perhaps he's more of the figurehead whilst Maloney does the day-to-day coaching, but then there's nothing to suggest that Maloney is a good coach is there?

I agree and think you will win the semi now. All is not well in the east end of Glasgow. A good test to see where Danny is tomorrow night. 3 points in Leith would be impressive. 1

It's hardly the couldron of Istanbul against Galatasaray. If they can't handle that, maybe they should be looking for new clubs.
