edinburghowl Posted October 17 Posted October 17 This is incredible if true! From Fitbaw Gospel: Megabucks Muscat move Rangers FC are set to make Kevin Muscat their highest ever paid manager - and if his signing on fee is included then he will be the most expensive manager in the history of Scottish football. Everything is all agreed on a two-year deal for the Australian to join on December 1 at the latest - the only thing holding back the announcement is Rangers are still trying to get him in sooner and doing all they can to get him to leave Shanghai Port after their game TODAY. But with just four games to go and Shanghai top of the league by 2 points - he is keen to finish off the job in hand, they also have Champions League games coming up in November, so negotiations will continue tonight and over the weekend in that regard. It’s believed that the total cost of sacking Russell Martin and hiring Kevin Muscat has now exceeded £10m - and that figure could grow even higher if Rangers put a package together that lures him away from China sooner than planned. 2

The fact that they are clamouring for Muscat is hilarious. I'm not saying he won't be good, perhaps he will be, but the lengths the club are going to and the desperation of their fanbase to have him is so far removed from any evidence of what he's done. He's succeeding when following on from well placed foundations, but struggled otherwise. No one can claim he's walking in on solid foundations now. Following A-League media and fan conversation whilst here in NZ also makes me laugh. They massively, massively overestimate any Aussie player or manager, in such a bizarre way. In the summer, with a few Aussies joining Championship clubs, they were all insistent that they should not only be at PL clubs, but top ones at that. 2
Liam_Baggies Posted October 17 Posted October 17 It won't be true - the sacking of Martin was rumoured to be about a million as most contracts for managers have a 12 month sunset clause in them I fail to believe we're paying anything more than a couple of million for Muscat time will tell on him 1
edinburghowl Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Rangers dropped more points today and Hearts currently 3-0 up away at Kilmarnock who were unbeaten at home this season. This Hearts team are the real deal. Playing some great football 1

owls89 Posted October 19 Posted October 19 It won't cost them as much as not getting 2nd spot, which is about to matter less anyway because of the nosedive in Scottish coefficient points.
DobbinTheDonkey Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Outstanding. 37 years, well done Dundee Let's hope Hearts keep it going. 1
edinburghowl Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Great win for Dundee. We could be 8 points clear by Sunday next week. Celtic at Tynecastle up next and I am supremely confident. 1
DCFCOwls Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Hope Hearts keep it up Scottish football needs a Leicester moment and Hearts winning it would do their domestic league the world of good 1 1
