g-owls Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Add them both into the English Premier League, with access to the same revenue streams etc, and it wouldn’t take long before they became a force. The value of each club would sky rocket and based on fan base, history and global appeal, would attract interest from some of the richest investers on the planet. American investment is huge right now, so let’s take the Irish American side of things.. Celtic have a huge fan base in the states, now if the club were suddenly shopping in the same market as half of the Premier League, the level of interest would only grow and commercial opportunities would explode. The politics, religion and the like are one side of the story, but in terms of stature, how many English clubs have a real legacy status that’s higher right now? Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal perhaps? Ask yourself this question.. If Celtic and Rangers played in England, on a level playing field with the same money from TV, would they have a realistic chance of competing with the likes of Spurs, Villa and Newcastle? It would take time of course but in the long run the answer has to be yes. 1 1
Mighty Quinn Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Which is why the big six clubs down here would never let them into the Premier league, it will never happen

owls89 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Have you seen the meltdown both of them have when they lose a game?
helmut_rooster Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Röhl now turns em down, at this rate Frank Sidebottom might be next manager 1
g-owls Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Managing either Celtic or Rangers is totally different to anything else in the UK at least. Yes, it's a two team league, but that in itself heightens the level of scrutiny placed on them. If you manage one of the Old Firm there isn't anything such as a 'good season' Finish second and you've failed, finish second and fail to win either of the cups and your public enemy number one. Look at Arteta, he's not won anything barring an FA Cup early in his tenure. He's still given time though Amorim's record at United is rubbish, do that with Rangers and he's out the door already. Gordan Strachan once said that if you can handle the pressure in Glasgow, you can cope with anything. 2
edmontonowl Posted October 15 Posted October 15 There must be something up with Rangers' operations for Röhl and Gerrard to say no 1

BIG D Posted October 16 Posted October 16 He obviously wanted the job but he’s better than the SPL. You only have to look at the other managers in the league to realise that. 3

Greenowl Posted October 17 Posted October 17 By the way for my fellow Celts there is a spine tingling version of you’ll never walk alone on YouTube sang before a game against the great Barcelona. O’Neill was manager at the time and he must have felt electric. There is no grander team to play for…. 1
Greenowl Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Anyway more topical - I’d be delighted if hearts won the premiership. All this winning is getting up my nose. LOL!!!!! 1
