Good grief, they've got 16 midfielders!

(also about to sign Leicester's Connor Coady to their defence to make 9 defenders, plus they have 9 forwards/strikers - hard to believe they sent Paul Mullin out on loan to Wigan - what's all that about? )

Their squad size will comprise 37 players - by the end of today!

Depends how many of them are U21 but they can't all go in their 25 man squad.  Wonder if they'd be willing to let a few come on loan here and play for a 0% wage contribution.

To think it's come to this, wondering if Wrexham might lend us their scraps...

They've progressed faster than the natural lifespan of the squad's contracts. Nobody would have signed there 3 years ago on a 1 year contract, so they would have had give them 3 years. They've then been promoted and needed better players, so they've signed that players replacement on a 3 year contract. They've then been promoted and oh guess what...

Always a risk with rapid progression. You get stuck with overpaid, unmovable assets because why would they leave to earn less elsewhere?

Can't work out whether they are doing good business or not.

Signed some big names (relatively speaking).

Why on why anyone would be interested in Kiefer Moore after his efforts last season is beyond me. He was utter rubbish.

Apparently they are after Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich for £7.5m

Add him to Windass, Hardie, Moore, Jay Rodriguez, Ollie Palmer, Jack Marriott, Sam Smith (not the singer) and that's 8 strikers

They're like the EFL version of Chelsea

I’m still think Kieffer Moore is a half decent player even though he had a woeful season with that lot. Think he might surprise a few people, wouldn’t surprise me if he bagged 10/12 goals.

Not criticising Wrexham here because they seem like a well run club but how are they affording this and staying within financial fair play? As far as I’m aware they haven’t sold anyone and their squad is huge, so wages will be quite high. If they’ve just signed someone for £2m and are linked to someone for £7.5m then they’re either gambling or the money coming through from sponsorship / shirt sales etc must be mega.

It is, or it certainly was for L1 level - presumably they'll be getting/charging even more in the Championship. United Airlines shirt sponsorship, and thousands of shirt sales off the back of the docuseries (I read somewhere that they sell more shirts in the States than Arsenal do).  Meanwhile we make do with little IT companies that nobody's heard of sponsoring the shirts, and 29 shirts sold in the club shop...

I think they also have a lot of leeway at the moment with FFP or profit and sustainability as it's called now, with them only just entering the Championship after being non-league a couple of years ago. But if they go spendageddon and it goes titsup they may have a problem in a few years.

Wrexham generate huge profits in comparison to most teams in the EFL, bar those in receipt of parachute payments.

They are a commercial beast, what with their popularity in the States and elsewhere.

There biggest issue will always be when Ryan Reynolds is no longer the figure head, he is the figurehead that business, celebrity, US fans all want to be connected to.

When they sell the new owners would surely look to keep him involved short term, if they are just owned by another American Hedge fund where's the glamour in that.

Best signing they've made this summer for me is Lewis O'Brien (and I like Windass)

Lewis OBrien is a great signing agreed

They'll surely look to offload Marriott ? Who we both got conned into signing , we got fleeced for 3m by Peterborough, at least you only got done with a loan fee

Think they'll be mid table at best and then struggle moving forward.

Bloated squad, not particularly stand out and spending big for it. You can splurge to get out of league 1 and 2,at championship it will make you a top 10 team unless your recruitment is spot on

They'll figure it out. Might take them a couple of seasons but they will get there.  Another team that will play in the Premier League before we do again!
