  1. Well, the likely minimum price is going to be around £30m just to pay off creditors. I would have thought towards £50m required plus a business plan to spend something like at least £100m over the next 5 years.
  2. All I can say is that, if I didn’t have a season ticket and all that was left was LLL under United supporters, I would not go. But surely we could have sold more in the North and South, leave LLL empty and still meet SAG requirements?
  3. Not surprised the LL is selling poorly. The behaviour of their supporters to ours when we are below them, both at Hillsborough and Bramall Lane, has been disgraceful. Wouldn’t want any children there.
  4. Kris Wigfield today spoke at Wise Old Owls in the 1867 Suite. Very straight forward and a pleasure to listen to. Explained where we are in the process with 11 proving their £50m funds available. Went through the next steps with his view that, of the 11, probably 5 or 6 will make real bids. He then went through the EFL proper person process with certain funding, for example linked to Russia, ruled out. My question - would Chansiri have passed the EFL rules as they are now when he bought the club 10 years ago, his answer was NO….NO CHANCE. In reply to the question about further points reduction, he said there would be some negotiation but if there were further points reduction, he was confident it would be this season. He also mentioned some of the issues with the buildings saying that all the central heating in the south stand building had not worked for several years which is why electric heaters were fitted all over the place in this cold snap. More straightforward facts than we have heard for 10 years or more
  5. Don’t understand all the hate about the band. For many years now, on the match days when they aren’t there, the kop sounds almost dead. What is the solution to this?
  6. I think they have both deserved an award. BUT. We have no statues at all at Hillsborough so we do need to go back and put our first into context of 158 years as a club! We may need to honour those who won our League titles and FA Cups. For the modern game, we would need to consider Martin Hodge, David Hirst and Chris Waddle as well as Barry and Liam.
  7. Interesting. My first game was in 1955 and we seem to be the same age. My Dad bought me a debenture to help fund the new Cantilever stand and we had season tickets from 1961 when the stand opened and I still have. I prefer a full re-vamp at Hillsborough as I find the “new” modern stadia, including Wembley and Cardiff stadium antiseptic and without any soul.
  8. I don’t think anything that happened was done out of disrespect. People these days are unused to attending Remembrance services and events. As someone who has attended these for most of my 77 years, it is a standard routine. Go to your local church this Sunday and experience the process of remembrance, as it first occurred in 1918. The actual period of silence lasts several minutes which includes the Last Post when flags are dipped and the Reveille when flags are raised again.
  9. I agree with this. This process should be the words of the soldier. When he says “We will remember them”, everyone should repeat those words which I did and all around me looked as though I was crazy. Then the last post during which silence is kept and for a further 60 seconds after which the trumpet player sounds the reveille after which we get on with the football. The clapping seems to have originated from Diana’s funeral and the silence in respect of people which have died has generally also been replaced by clapping.
  10. The issue for us old timers, having supported the Owls for well over 70 years, is that we never expected the 2000 relegation from the Premier League to take so long to be anywhere near getting bark. We have been down, up, nearly there, down, up , down and up but never really been ready. I have had shares, a debenture in the North , bought more shares and lost them all to Mandaric. Always assumed I would live to see us back in the Premier League. It is now looking increasingly unlikely that I will live to see it.
  11. That was done a long time ago. That is exactly what already happens.
  12. I can happily give the pizza a miss. Are there any interesting options on the food menu?
  13. Probably but he is 78. He is now a folk singer and has written more than 300 songs.
  14. They were there on Wednesday when I was at Wise Old Owls. Thought about dumping them in the river. Guest speaker was Jack Whitham who scored a hat trick for the Owls on 31st August 1968 when we beat Manchester United 5-4.
  15. I will probably not go, even as a ST holder. But, even though I know our players understand and are trying to live through this, what real harm are we doing to what is left of our team? They are the guys we support.
