Managing either Celtic or Rangers is totally different to anything else in the UK at least. Yes, it's a two team league, but that in itself heightens the level of scrutiny placed on them. If you manage one of the Old Firm there isn't anything such as a 'good season' Finish second and you've failed, finish second and fail to win either of the cups and your public enemy number one. Look at Arteta, he's not won anything barring an FA Cup early in his tenure. He's still given time though Amorim's record at United is rubbish, do that with Rangers and he's out the door already. Gordan Strachan once said that if you can handle the pressure in Glasgow, you can cope with anything.

Add them both into the English Premier League, with access to the same revenue streams etc, and it wouldn’t take long before they became a force. The value of each club would sky rocket and based on fan base, history and global appeal, would attract interest from some of the richest investers on the planet. American investment is huge right now, so let’s take the Irish American side of things.. Celtic have a huge fan base in the states, now if the club were suddenly shopping in the same market as half of the Premier League, the level of interest would only grow and commercial opportunities would explode. The politics, religion and the like are one side of the story, but in terms of stature, how many English clubs have a real legacy status that’s higher right now? Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal perhaps? Ask yourself this question.. If Celtic and Rangers played in England, on a level playing field with the same money from TV, would they have a realistic chance of competing with the likes of Spurs, Villa and Newcastle? It would take time of course but in the long run the answer has to be yes.

Richard Hammond did a ‘Mega Structures’ episode at the Tottenham Stadium. Everything about the place is special.

A lovey afternoon for the football at Hucknall. A 2-0 win against lowly AFC Mansfield, although it took until the 74th minute for the breakthrough. The first half was 45 minutes no one will ever get back, but credit to the team in the second half with a lot better performance. Even the dog enjoyed herself.

I can’t see the police wanting to do anything. There will be plenty of Owls fans working within the force, and no doubt the brief they’d have been given on Saturday would be to ensure that any protest didn’t get out of hand, which of course it didn’t. They can’t stop the club pressing charges, but short of physical assaults I reckon they’ll keep their powder dry on any future pitch invasions.

With Patrick Stewart’s contacts, they might be able to tempt Doctor Spock.

Hell of a strike to be fair. -
Sheffield Wednesday vs Birmingham omdt

Birmingham are a horrible club. It doesn’t matter how much they spend, they’ll always have the tag of being that city’s scruffs. Some of the rubbish they were putting out on social media last season was pathetic, taunting clubs with a fraction of their wage bill. It probably comes from the top… something about that Wagner I don’t like, and as great an American footballer Brady was, I reckon he’s a big headed bell end. -
Players considering strike action

I agree. Do it or don’t. There’s no need to threaten ‘possible action’ when you’ve been messed around for so long. -
Players told they won't be paid on time AGAIN
g-owls replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
The PFA, FA and the EFL should get together. Pay the wages for this month on the condition it must be paid back within 28 days, failure to do so would be to expel the club from the football league. Which of course means Wednesday being booted out. -
I'd class the majority of folk from Hull in the same bracket tbh.

Amorim’s doing a great job. It wouldn’t be fun anymore if they turned things round. A bit like Arsenal fan tv back in 2015 when dear old Claude was alive and they were getting battered at Hillsborough.

Good afternoon over at Eastwood for the local derby. Hucknall winning 2-0, Eastwood having a man sent off early in the second half, and our second goal being an outstanding lob from 40-yards out.

Play the game but don’t play the game. Sod the 50/50’s, lung busting runs. Why flog yourself for this idiot?

Eastwood v Hucknall this coming Saturday for me. My second trip to Coronation Park this season, as Belper United also play there. Hucknall beat them 4-1 in the first away game of the season. Nice little ground with a decent stand down the side.

I met Des just before last Christmas at an event in Nottingham. We did talk for a few minutes, and whilst he said that he had a lot of time for the Wednesday fans, there was too many players at the club who, in his eyes, didn’t work as hard as they could. He had huge praise for Mark Bright and Carlton Palmer, but when I turned the conversation onto Di Canio, it was clear to see that Des couldn’t stand him. Forest were always his true love. Excellent player who joined us a year or two too late. Imagine him in that 92-93 side…

Crazy game at Hucknall tonight. 2-0 up and cruising against bottom of the league Ashby Ivanhoe after 90+1 minutes. Ashby then pull one back a minute later, and in the 7th minute of four minutes injury time(?!) their goalkeeper manages to score despite being on his backside at the time. 2-2 it finished. Talk about getting out of jail.. I can't recall a team being so inferior over 90 minutes and still managing to walk away with a point.

Sheffield Wednesday u15's vs Grimsby OMDT
g-owls replied to Maddogbob's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
No point in resting players when the ‘best’ ones aren’t good enough to win league matches anyway. Shut the club down. It’s just becoming more embarrassing with each passing week. This clown has no intention of leaving. F**k him and f**k those who continue to prop him up. -
We may be on our arse but at least we're not Blades

66/1 to win the league. I have memories of a Roy Keane esq Sunderland turn around from them. -
Honestly, I’m past caring. Pathetic bunch of idiots buying tickets for this game, some of whom will be doing so purely for the TPP. You get the club you deserve. A great big sack of crap.

Scotland v Ireland would be a tasty midfield battle. Souness Bremner Keane Giles

What will happen, and not because I know, but purely down to what I think, is that along with announcing early bird prices, Chansiri will also add in the carrot of extra TPP’s for those who renew at the very first stage. He’ll do everything possible without spending a penny.
