  1. Absolutely this. Waddle best player in my lifetime because of his ability and overall contribution to the team . Di Canio best technical player I have seen play for us but a maverick who ultimately thought more about himself than the team. Forestieri was a sort of inferior Di Canio.
  2. Willie Henderson - now he was a good player in a poor team! Remember him dragging Jimmy Mullen and half the team out of the Crazy Daisy late afternoon in the middle of the week when I was stood at the 95 bus stop. He might have been able to play well after a few but the rest couldn’t! What a different world it was.
  3. Early days, but just like Mel Sterland and Liam Palmer has benefitted from the shift out of the middle. Promising development, particularly given our immediate future in a lower divsion. We'll see.
  4. I sit in the South Grandstand and heard him. That’s when I wasn’t being deafened by an extremely loud mouthed bloke several rows behind me acting in a similar manner. Honestly some of us just haven’t got a clue! Can’t give it them unfortunately if they haven’t got it.
  5. Yes someone like that definitely said that about Humphreys when he played brilliantly for us at the beginning of the season when we won the first 4 games and topped the Premier League. I have the Green Un with the table stashed away somewhere as I knew things would never get better. Turned into a good pro in the lower leagues and had a long career so fair do’s to him.
  6. I agree. But it’s a great thing to have in common!
  7. Eric Taylor AKA Mr Sheffield Wednesday. Took barrowloads of criticism for putting the ground before the team. Can’t imagine what he’d think about the decaying state of his North Stand or the current owner who prioritises himself over everything. Unbelievable!
  8. Marvellous - thanks for confirming I hadn’t imagined it! Eric Taylor - he definitely ran the show!!!
  9. My first game and have always believed it to be so. But happy to be corrected?
  10. Loved Prendo - but always injured! Bit of a familiar story over the years!
  11. I’m pretty sure Eric Potts was carried off shoulder high by the fans at the end! Innocent but happy days!
  12. Last game of the season v Spurs - my first proper game at Hillsborough! Tommy Craig’s debut match I think? Previously only allowed to go to Reserve (the Stiffs!) Team games. First Season Ticket in West Stand Upper 69/70 - then literally all downhill for 11 years! The 70’s were desperate times but fun when you’re young. Always hopeful no matter what then, What’s happening now is just beyond belief. Keep the faith.
