Why is everyone getting their knickers in a twist?
Deluded Owl replied to shandypants's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
It’s what we do best -
No I’m not. Why would I hope that? If the EFL continue to make it difficult to recruit then how is next season going to be massively different from this. Plus if everyone who disagrees with you is a pig fan then this site is full of em?

Every chance of it though, isn’t there? Unless we can recruit properly we’re going to be stuck there longer than 2 years.

He’ll be sold to Rangers in January along with Valery. -
I’ve always been of the opinion that our next stint in League 1 is going to be one where we stay for quite a while and looking at the current situation, our first ever stint in League 2 is not out of the question. I think we are very much in the hands of the EFL. They play hardball with us over continued sanctions and we start the 2027/28 season in League 2.

Didn’t have a problem fielding virtually a team of kids in the League Cup. You could very much argue we have even less time in the League but he can’t give some of these lads 20 minutes or more off the bench never mind starts. If he did this exhaustion might not be as much of a problem. -
Before the chaos ensued we needed to sort out the defence. 68 and 69 goals conceded in the last 2 seasons told us all this. Unfortunately not only could we sort out the defence we had the heart ripped out of our attack with the caveat we couldn’t do f**k all about that either. My biggest fear is the damage this car crash is doing to all the players at the club including the academy lads that are suffering beatings on a regular basis as well. We’re going to have back to back relegations if the EFL don’t scrub that fee restriction embargo. As for Pedersen, this season is going to do for him as well. Difficult task undoubtedly but his reluctance to use his bench regardless of the lack of quality is proving a problem. Will new owners stick with him? As each game goes by it seems more and more unlikely IMO?

McNeill will get it for missing the penalty but he’s been a major plus this week. Showed up well as a sub last Sunday. Was one of our better performers against Millwall and he’s scored 2 and been lively today. Should’ve been trusted more by the manager long before this week. -

This is the thing for me. What are we going to get out of the season apart from the obvious worst season in living memory. Pedersen has to see the bigger picture but he’s gone into his shell. Just don’t see how he survives this season unless he can put some foundations in for next season which at the moment he isn’t. -

We may be on our arse but at least we're not Blades
Deluded Owl replied to Pablo Bonvin's topic in General Football Chat
Starting to hit their straps but with the players they’ve got they should be. I was reading the times article someone was posted on here. I mean we have according to an expert League 1 players at best and many are League 2 and Non-League standard. Chansiri has f**ked this club for many years. -
This season is proving to be a hard one across the board. Unfortunately I fear the effects this season is going to have on everyone in the future particularly the younger players.

Very difficult to entice many fans with the quality of the on pitch product at the moment. Any new owner has to factor this in.

All fair points. Just think the recruitment restrictions will continue into next season plus there will be a massive hangover from being the worst ever team in championship history. Of course it’s not his fault as this situation would probably get the better of most managers but I do think he could’ve looked at alternative solutions within the group with regards to us as an attacking force. Very difficult with the resources he has but persevering with J Lowe and Ugbo has been a complete waste of time.
-
No problem. It’s a game of opinions after all. Thing is I don’t see him being the right fit for us in League 1. Having the principles he has with the likely squad at his disposal I just see another struggle next season. The only way he stays on is if his fellow Dane takes over as I suspect Pedersen is a reason he’s interested?

Mike Ashley makes £20 mil offer to buy club 🙄
Deluded Owl replied to notsowiseowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Ashley’s a good businessman but last thing we need is another owner who we could be at loggerheads with pretty quickly and TBH I don’t think he has a strong enough desire to get us so I’m expecting someone else. -
Pedersen in League 1 would be an utter car crash particularly if his resources are similar to what they are now.
-
Where have I got it in for Pedersen? I’ve praised him often enough this season. In the various posts where I’ve been critical, I’ve also stated that he’s got his hands tied behind his back, legs tied together and blindfolded too. Thing is regardless of the lack of quality on the bench he owes it to his senior pros in particular who are playing 90 minutes most games to protect them more particularly in three game weeks. These players are struggling both with physical and mental fatigue and this season will f**k them up for the next 2 or 3 campaigns it’s that simple. The manager should be looking to limit this damage as much as possible and let’s be honest he talks enough about the human side of a player. If you think I’m having a go then fair enough but if you look at him on the touchline last night he looked as drained as the players, gone is the enthusiasm and drive he showed at the start of the campaign. Understandable really but as you say he’s the manager. He’s doing a good job in the circumstances but all I’m saying he needs to trust his bench more and limit the damage being done to his players the best he can.

I don’t think Pedersen grasps that this squad will look very different next season. Recruitment restrictions could still be in place so he really needs to be getting some minutes into players who are more likely to be here next season. This season’s a write off so we should be at least trying to source some green shoots for recovery next time around. Another question mark against the manager for me.
