The camera operator will still be behind the ball! Here’s a different view…. This I’ve witnessed numerous times… Player places ball for corner. Linesman asks him to move it back. Player moves it back 1 blade of grass. Linesman says ‘No. Move it back a bit more. Player looks as though Linesman’s just told him that he’s having an affair with his wife. Meanwhile thousands are screaming abuse at the Linesman for being a pedantic twät. The irony!

With the camera operator behind the ball. I’ve got a lovely big 4K tv. And every time the camera operator zooms in on a corner being taken, I can’t tell whether any of the ball is ‘hovering on the white line’. So I accept what the person closest to it sees. What’s the sofa got to do with it? Depends where you’re sat watching your big 4k tv.

The base of the ball that’s touching the grass may be ‘outside the quadrant’, but part of the ball (the circle) may still be ‘touching the line of the quadrant’. Just like ‘the whole of the ball must have cleared the white line to be deemed a goal’. That linesman checking it, has a better view than you do (or anyone else).

He spends too much time ‘trying’ and not enough time ‘thinking’ when he’s out there on the pitch. You certainly can’t fault the effort he puts in.

Right now I’d settle for not dropping into L2. People keep mentioning Birmingham City. They were in a far better position than we were. You could even say that if they’d have kept Eustace, they might not have gone down. Too many folk getting giddy about new owners. Reminds me of 10 years ago.

We’re not even close to the halfway point in this season and people are speculating about next season. We don’t know who may finish up owning us, we don’t know if any current players will be sold during January and we still have that long period of ‘fee restrictions’ hanging round our neck. This is about the long term future of SWFC, not a short-term fix.
