  1. These administrators have done more in 2.5 weeks than HWSNBN did in 9 years. Can't they just takeover and crack on
  2. Stats can be manipulated, but context needs to taken into account. Those first few games after the departure of football angelist Russll Martin would be difficult for any manager. Getting thumped in Europe, especially a relative heavy weight like Roma? Can happen. Losing to Celtic having played a significant time with 10 men? Can happen. It took him 5 or 6 games to get going with the rabble he inherited here, but immediately you could see improvement. Jeez, some people just like to complain.
  3. Given what he had to work with here ("Management" and the playing staff that "Management" allowed and / or gave him) and what he achieved in spite of, in combination with the relative strength of Championship v Scotland, it would not surprise me in the slightest if he can get Röhl ball going up there and win the dam thing.
  4. Totally agree. No point pining for what's not possible right now. Concentrate on the journey and the next step.
  5. You're lucky enough to be young enough to not remember Brad Jones... Imagine Chris Woods' ability to stay on his line when any ball comes into the box in combination with the shot stopping ability of a damp lettuce. A worse keeper I have never seen.
  6. I was bang in line with the ball in. Keeper and defender both left it for each other. Bounced in front of him and skipped off the turf. I was surprised the ball got to him, I can only assume he was too. Still.. professional footballer with silky first touch and all that.
  7. I'm laid up with a chest infection. I put more effort in, at considerable physical and mental expense I might add, yelling at him to close down the bloody central defenders than he did closing down the bloody central defenders.
  8. San Siro is a bowl, but my god it is not soulless.
  9. How big an "oh, boy" are we theoretically hypothesising? big, massive or MASSIVE Also... how much are we charging for a massager? Them seats do my back in, a nice loosener at half time would be welcome.
  10. I was thinking the same. If they were prepared to offer £100m in the summer... why wouldn't they be even more interested at £30m now?
  11. I think those embargoes will have wriggle room now. It wouldn't surprise me once the new owners are in place, passed the owners test and delivered their plan, if a few of them turned into 'suspended for 2 years' or similar, just as a warning... But again, to echo your sentiments - WHO CARES?!?
  12. Frank Sinatra - I did it My Way
  13. Lose Germany and add Portugal. They've also got the unfortunate incentive of doing it for Jota. And surely CR7 last chance to elevate himself onto GOAT status alongside Messi (and Maradona for those of a certain age)
  14. Could have won it, then immediately got countered and could (should) have lost it!!! Last seconds of Fergie time. Ridiculous game management , although that wasn't a thing back then.
  15. Personally, I think it's Palmer + 1 for that No.10 spot.
  16. I wouldn't mind seeing Bellingham in that 'Rice' role. If Tommy brings him back in, that is.
  17. Interesting points, also from @Bannofan. Light at the back is a function of players available, but I wouldn't be overly concerned going in with Guehi and Konsa (or Stones if he can stay fit). I hope Braithewaite can get a full season in and break through. The wide players are ridiculous. Saka is a shoo-in. You then get 5 or 6 others vying for the rest. Kane walks into pretty much Any team in the world and Delap looks like his heir AND a useful option to change the narrative of the game. As ever, it will be midfield where we come unstuck. Anderson is looking very handy, got to see him up against serious quality though. Pedri or Vitinha he is not. If Tuchel can work out a way to at least get parity in the middle of the park, we've got as good a chance as anyone given the ridiculous amount of individual quality up top that can Fashion something out of nothing. That and nullifying the cheat code that is Yamine Lamal.
  18. He's laid down a marker with this squad. Those that are in stay in. I like it, builds a team ethos, competition is healthy. Also, such are the amount of games that they are now forced to play without sufficient rest periods, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if some of those who have basically played continuously for the last 3 years breakdown anyway.
  19. Or has quality homogenised? Systems football and pressing triggers, plus academy training and amazing pitches has lifted the levels of 'average' footballers and, I would argue, diminished the level of the true 'ballers that we had in the 80's and 90's (when I was growing up). International football is different to elite European level. There simply isn't time to drill the systems into the players. As such, you need a difference maker. This is why I think Palmer is irreplaceable. He plays the game like he's in the school yard. He resisted all efforts from Pep to systemise him, unlike Foden who looks amazing within the City structure but looks like a fish out of water at International level. I agree. It's a much level playing field nowadays. A solid defence, individual quality and squad depth off the bench (even more important given the conditions) is going to be key to going far next summer.
  20. Such a state of affairs when we post laughing emoji's after what is (in football terms) a terrible situation. We must be close to scraping the barrell now and starting a semblance of normality, surely???
  21. Given all available evidence when the present owner is backed into a corner and feels disrespected, it would not surprise me in the slightest to read that Bazza has been sacked by mutual consent .
  22. I agree with this, but I'd switch Bellingham for Palmer. Palmer for me is the most important player, he makes everything tick, creates, scores and does it all without the superstar alpha energy. But what a problem to have. There's going to be some serious talent sat at home next summer for sure. I just hope and pray Tuchel picks a team and not names. The bench is going to be frighteningly full of game changers and finishers, whatever.
  23. It's gone so far now, this season is already a write off. I kinda hope this actually happens now. Would be an epic way for him to sign off. One last epic cluster****, snatching defeat from the jaws of at least getting back the initial investment.
  24. I fear our esteemed owner will see this as a win for Team Chansiri, the mighty Man Utd have bent the knee... and a sign of disrespect from the others.
  25. Ask your resident AI to give you a low down on personality traits of Malignant Narcissism co-occurring with the Dunning Kerst effect. The OP may not be far away from the truth. In which case, we're in a WORLD of pain.
