Runcorn Linnets made their own history last week beating Ashton United away in the FA Cup 3rd round qualifying. Today they hosted Buxton, two leagues above, in the final qualifying round… They were so close to meeting a proper league side if they won today, but alas it was 1-0 to Buxton around the 90th minute… cruel way to go! Runcorn were certainly on top second half, hit the bar, goal line clearances from the visitors multiple times etc… cracking day for the club non the less with a sell out crowd of 1,600.

Regardless of their current form, unfortunately, we have never been so vulnerable and low for them to come and try do us over. I hope that’s just a personal fear… I trust our young owls to battle anything thrown at them right now.

Used to walk from the old SWFC shop in town, under the Co Op was it? Opposite Argos. Walk there to Hillsborough park, pit stop at Farmfoods for cans of pop and munch, then onto back of the Kop. Glory days of a ST around 2002-2007ish with the bright orange booklet at one point…. Then from Salford Uni, would get the train from Manchester Piccadilly and commute to home games 2008-2013 roughly. I got the membership card for the playoff seasons and now just a regular bottom feeder who tries to catch it on ifollow or dodgy stick. Will pay per game to attend when he’s gone, which would then make it a commute of two trains and then the tram to a home game, about 3hr all in each way .

Don’t have loads to add to this fantastic thread right now but just a big shout out to the OP and anyone else who’s posted about the real stuff! It’s gotten to a point at work for myself where I’ve asked people to stop asking me ‘how we doing?’ in terms of SWFC and league position etc as I’m fed up of having to prepare my little speech about it all and justification of it all. At the moment I find great comfort in music again, gym (twice a week which is new to me), and the local footy team with a couple of lads who prefer a brew over a pint. They understand our predicament as well so it makes everything easier for me, we still have a laugh about it but I know they genuinely get it too. I have also gained a daughter, and lost three immediately family members in the last 18 months and somehow all this debacle with HIM feels like it adds into the pressure cooker at times. If you can’t swerve a game against Grimsby Town on a cold night in the cup - what chance have we got? Absolutely dreading the rest of this season and oh yes…. The small matter of THAT lot coming here in about 8 weeks time under Wilder Beast management ffs, we best brave ourselves…

Oh for us to have just a regular, bang average season while their strange little demise continues…. could really drink this in! Guess our turmoil is what makes it all the more fun though! We love a miracle…. (*note, I don’t class this season as fun…… yet)
