Nathan Redmond Signs
SurreyShandyOwl replied to TheEnchanter's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Good luck to him. It’s not like we are blessed with options up front/wide attacking areas. Welcome to Wednesday! -
I thought it was a typical performance from him. Inconsistent kicking, some great saves, but if I’m being honest he is incredibly slow to get his body down to low shots. I honestly believe Pierce Charles saves the 2nd and 3rd goals. I’m not putting the boot in though, he’s indicative of where we are at as a squad.
-
Disagree, you don’t necessarily have to run the ball, you put enough pressure on to stop a good clearance and get runners around the target to pick up pieces. Look at their 3rd goal today, Cooper launches it long, our Cooper gets contact, but they have runners who pick up the loose ball and then have a shot. How often did Hovarth trying hit long with an early pass? He had the chance, but kept delaying and playing short. We know it’s a mess and we know who to blame, but Pederson has to adapt to what we have.
-
Totally agree mate. We were saying this all game. It’s the only way we’ll be able to get up the pitch against a better side who press us. Paul Sturrock used it to great effect, force an error, move up the pitch, nick a throw. How many times did we go backward from a throw in, sideways, back to Horvarth, who under pressure sliced the ball in to one of their midfielders?? You have to mix it up. Going long and getting Lowe and Inglesson on their full backs will cause the Oppo to drop off another 10 yards, that in itself creates a bit extra space for midfielders. We should be able to get a bit more out of that team by playing the percentages.

I work in a school and occasionally throw this in, much to the laughter and derision of the students. I still have no idea what it means, what I’m doing or why it is funny…..much like my teaching.

Made me quite emotional reading that article - what a man! -
Is a football atmosphere that important?
SurreyShandyOwl replied to WimJunk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Not sure about the team, but it’s hugely important to me as it makes the match day experience so much better. Let off some steam, have a sing-song, feel a sense of unity and belonging that very few things in life can rival. That’s why we all love an away day. I can’t see why we can’t create something similar at home if we are creative in terms of designating areas of the ground for singing. -
He was very good!

In case you missed this one

And there we have it, a man so far removed from reality, that he thinks your local mayor can make the tax bill go away. Well done to all those who helped remove him from our club, because it’s coming clear to me that he was never going to remove himself. -
Boycotting would suck the enjoyment out of it for them lot as well - which I’m all for. What the Boro and Leeds games have shown is that the away teams can fill their end, but it’s still an absolutely poo atmosphere if the home end is empty. We need to boycott this game completely, let ham-face give it the large one…..to absolutely no one in our end.

RIP Milan - steadied the ship during a stormy season. What I would give to have him at the helm now…

Pedersen, staff and squad
SurreyShandyOwl replied to Kopparberg's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
You are so right, they’ve found a starting 11 and formation which has added some much needed solidity. My issue is that it all feels like it’s for nothing while he is the owner and it stops me taking any pleasure from it. -
-
As per title. That formation really suits us. Extra security at the back, two forwards playing off each other and Valery gave us some much needed legs and mobility in midfield. What a fine young talent young Weaver looks to be as well. excellent- well done to Henrik!

Sheffield Wednesday vs Portsmouth🇦🇺 OMDT

Jackie would be fine though! -
Totally agree, other then that I think it’s the best side and formation he can put out.

I’m clearly suffering from Stockholm syndrome, I can’t quite escape it!!
-
First thing he should do is focus on Horvath’s body position when in a 1 on 1 situation. He’s a pretty decent shot stopper, made a fantastic save in the first half against Bristol City, but he gets done through his legs too often. I’m sure some small adjustments could address it, but there again, I’m not a goalkeeper coach!
-
Firstly, he homes across as a top guy, secondly he was a really good player who maximised his potential, but finally…those play off games, wow!! Thanks for the memories Lee!

This is brilliant.I must have come back to this picture about 5 times. I can’t decide if the owl is friendly, but slightly naughty or a pwoper nawty boy? It may also be a sign that it’s the international weekend and I’m bored as you like and this has been the highlight so far, but I’m thinking about it too much.

Aren’t you forgetting the absolute car crash of a club he inherited from Alan Sugar when he became chairman? Regularly flirting with relegation, points deductions, a ground that had seen better days to put it mildly. Sound familiar? He may be a minority owner but his share will be worth close to a billion pounds, because he has helped lead that club in to a financial monster, whilst bringing a huge uplift in performance on the pitch.
