RS: So Chris, the derby coming up, how are you approaching the game?
CW: Last year, we got the better of them at their place and we'll be hoping for a repeat, give our fans the bragging rights. We've been the better side for some years with spells in the Premier League whilst they've spent time in league one, all whilst I've been manager here.
RS: Given the difference between your squad values, do you feel the pressure to win?
CW: Not at all. It's a derby and things like that go out of the window. It's all about the passion, who wants to win on the day and I'll be setting the team up to go in with the right mentality to come out on top, like I did last year.
RS: Do you feel United have underperformed this season and would a win against Wednesday go some way to putting things right?
CW: Beating your rivals, it means a lot to the fans. Even after almost 25 years of being the better side, Wednesday fans still see themselves as superior and it's nice to remind them that United have had multiple promotions to the Premier League whilst after splashing the cash, they still didn't succeed. I've won at Hillsborough twice now and hopefully, we'll make it a hattrick.
RS: Are the playoffs looking far off after the start United have had?
CW: Since my return, we've picked up 10 points but our start has made thing a big challenge. We lost key players in the summer and I wasn't part of the recruitment. The players haven't met the standards I expect and the transfer window can't come soon enough to address this. If we continue to improve and results turn in our favour, it's not beyond us.
Can we expect shîte like this from King Pig?
