Did I ever tell y'all the time he wanted to launch Wednesday card, a Nectar card competitor?

The back story is that a lot of people were calling for Mr Stanfords head for a variety of reasons. The OP spoke with Mr Stanford at half time, and it turns out Mr Stanford is a great guy who was gagged and had two arms tied behind his back by Chansiri, and was then repeatedly told he's not good enough, lazy, incompetent etc. by the same person.

Wait until you find out about the string.

Stoke City v Owls Matchday Thread

Well you've all made my Dad (a Stokie) very happy. So there's that. -
Dejphon's stance on selling Sheffield Wednesday has evolved over time, reflecting the club's changing circumstances and his personal experiences as owner. Past Statements: December 2018: Chansiri announced he was putting the club up for sale during a fans' forum, citing financial challenges, including a transfer embargo due to breaches of Financial Fair Play rules. He expressed belief that many would be interested in purchasing the club. January 2019: He revealed rejecting offers ranging from £30 million to £175 million, suggesting that his earlier statement about selling was more a response to fan dissatisfaction than a firm intent to sell. September 2023: Chansiri declared he would cease funding the club, expressing frustration over personal insults directed at him and his family. While stating the club wasn't officially for sale, he indicated openness to serious offers, emphasizing the need for professionalism in any potential sale process. Recent Developments: As of April 2025, the club faces renewed financial difficulties, including unpaid player salaries in March, leading to potential sanctions from the English Football League. Chansiri has contributed significantly to the club's finances, but fans are increasingly questioning his ability to sustain funding. Reports suggest he appears more open to selling the club than in the past, marking a pivotal moment for Sheffield Wednesday's future. Previously, Chansiri's declarations about selling were often reactive, stemming from immediate pressures or criticisms. In contrast, current indications point to a more proactive and serious consideration of a sale, driven by ongoing financial challenges and a desire for the club to have a sustainable future.

Interesting that he now wants an interpreter after refusing for so long.

When I was employed at the club I questioned the senior team as to why he had the run of the training ground and stadium. I asked did he need an ID card so he could get through the doors? I was told to get him an access card but with no photo or details on it. He's all very mysterious but he's very close to DC.

Yes absolutely. Every chairman or owner since 1974 has had a responsibility to install and maintain a man safe system. The fact we are 10 years in to Chansiri's reign he doesn't really have an excuse. -

I'm certainly not saying that. What I am saying is that he was fully aware that they were missing and should've been installed under his leadership. I am unsure if the club ever seriously considered installing man safe systems but they definitely don't exist. -

It's easy to say that, but most people can't afford to just walk out of a job at the drop of a hat. . Despite it being unsafe, one feels obliged to do it because you need the cash. Especially if you have a wife and family to support. Getting fired for not doing the job isn't an option. If I didn't do as ordered I'm finished. -

Fun fact about that. It's something like glue that's stuck on the roof. That's why it won't come off easily. I think there was a quote to paint over it but they wanted to scaffold the stand and the cost was...A LOT. Surprisingly DC said no. -

Holy danger of death batman! I'm sure you had a harness and proper fall arrest in place so you didn't die. Right? RIGHT? (Sarcasm. I know better!) -

Never dared go up on the Leppings Lane end. Fortunately I was never required to. A good friend of mine did though - he had to fix the floods on the front of the stand. Jump of faith! -

It's actually quite a surprise how many Blades work at Wednesday! Every time we won a match we used to tease a certain chap in the office about it! Good times! -

I believe that he feels that he's entitled to respect because of his position and wealth. That's how it works in Thailand apparently. I'm no expert in Thai culture though. -
I've kept mostly quiet for a long time, but after my time working at Sheffield Wednesday, I feel it’s time to share some of my experiences. What goes on behind the scenes at the club is... well, let’s just say it’s a world away from what most fans would expect. I want to be honest about what I saw and experienced, and while some of this might be hard to believe, I promise you it’s the truth. Let’s start with Chansiri. In my opinion, he’s got a very erratic personality. One minute he’d be calm, the next he’d be flying off the handle, shouting at managers and calling them lazy. He would often claim he hadn’t been told about something—even when there was proof (like emails!) that he had. He’d make appointments, keep you waiting for ages, and then act like it was no big deal. He would come to the office and expect YOU to go to HIM even if you didn't need to see him. He was very secretive about when he would come back to the UK and be in the office. He had a real bee in his bonnet about people not working unless he was physically there. Unfortunately because he expected you to see him, everyone would want to see him at once. Inevitably people will be kept waiting, and with no idea how long he's there for, I often ended up staying late to get an audience. Forget 5pm finishes, it could be as late as 9pm before I got an opening to see him. The amount of time wasted because of this was staggering. The health and safety issues were shocking. At one point, I had to jump between the stand roofs—a gap of about a metre—to get to where I needed to be. There was no safety equipment or thought for well-being. Cleanliness? Forget it. Out-of-date food and drink were routinely served to fans. It felt like no one cared, as long as money was coming in. The purchase process was absolutely ridiculous. To buy something, you had to get Chansiri’s permission. Then, when the invoice arrived, you had to ask him again for permission to pay it. Then, the finance director had to ask him again to actually release the funds. It got to the point where I’d be copying and pasting the same email back to him multiple times just to get basic things approved. Here’s a real example: "As you have authorised [head of department] below, please can you authorise me to release funds to pay these suppliers?” Madness. Then there was the time he accused me of taking a backhander because I found a cheaper contract for services the club needed. Instead of being happy we were saving money, he thought I was on the take! His desk in the stadium was piled high with reports and paperwork, none of which had been read. Even the cleaners weren’t allowed to enter his office to tidy up without his explicit permission. Secret cameras were set up to spy on office staff—totally unnecessary and a complete breach of trust. Suppliers often refused to deal with us because we’d not paid them on time, so we’d be on credit hold. Instead of resolving these debts, the solution was to move on to a new supplier, open a fresh account, and repeat the cycle. One time, he told me that if I ever went to prison for something, he’d make sure I was OK and feed me while I was inside. I couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be comforting or a threat. A lot of this, I think, comes down to Thai culture and the way he tries to enforce those societal rules here in the UK. In Thailand, respect and hierarchy are everything. For example, he once complained about how much a contractor was charging and said, “A teenager could do this job.” I jokingly replied, “Maybe Att could do it as work experience or something,” and he absolutely lost it. He called me disrespectful and threatened to fire me on the spot. That level of sensitivity and expectation for deference just doesn’t work here, and he gets frustrated when people push back. Let me be clear: I don’t hate the man. But his leadership style, decision-making, and complete lack of trust in his staff are seriously holding the club back. I can only imagine how much potential the club has if run properly. There are so many people behind the scenes who care deeply for the club (Hi Al, Hi Trevor) but they are stymied by the hoops one has to jump through. There’s so much more I could say, but I’ll leave it here for now. I’m sharing this because I've grown to care about Sheffield Wednesday and its fans. If the opportunity to work there again raised its head, I'd be tempted. Most of the staff are great (The Laundry and Kit team are angels) and I enjoyed my time there mostly. However for my own mental health I couldn't put up with the constant gaslighting and infighting.

All I can really say is that they *used to be* fine. But like everything at that place it needed to be maintained.
