Anything less than 12 points will be damaging... Certainly if they don't get 9 points from West Ham, Leeds & Wolves...

Vincent Company is the prime example of needing good players to execute the type of football he wants. Unfortunately, our players are worse than Burnley's let alone near the calibre of Bayern, Pederson needs to go back to basics and play the percentages..

Not suggesting it for a second by the way, just being a bit mischievous with the devils advocate scenario Agree with the posters who are going easy on Americans asking the question though, from a business perspective and that of their sporting culture it makes perfect sense (similar to no promotion/relegation). They'll have been explained the differences and why it can't/won't happen. The analogy of two phoenix clubs rising will make enough sense for them to rule the suggestion out so they'll move on. The Wrexham guys are a good example of owners everyone would like (without having a Jack Walker on the doorstep). Yes of course they're in it for the money but they're also intelligent enough to buy into and enhance the local community. I genuinely believe they want to leave the club and town in a better place than they were when they took over.. Which is more than can ever be said about our last owner..

I was living up in the north of Scotland when Inverness Caley & Inverness Thistle merged, don't what everyone is worried about as nothing kicked off when that happened A more intriguing prospect though (answer will still be emphatically no obviously), the Inverness clubs merged as it was their only way into the Scottish senior league system... If there was a closed shop Premier League or European breakaway with massive funding and we were given a seat at the table on the condition both Sheffield clubs merged, would more be accepting of it?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cvg84knn2p5o Top four seeds kept apart in the draw and can't meet eachother until the semis (if winning the group)... From an English perspective there's certainly less jeopardy getting through to the last four now...

Potentially a new stadium,i really hope not
Owl_For_a_Lifetime replied to BrianOwl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Brand new 50k seater multi-purpose stadium with hotels / bars / sports facilities for the community to be built for me. Generating income more than just 23 / 24/ 25 days of the year is a MUST. If that can be done on the site of the current stadium great, if not we need to move location as well. -
Eze is proof of what can happen if you give young English / British kids a chance at higher level. From QPR to Palace to Arsenal he's kicked on and slotted in at that level like he's belonged there his entire career...

I think James, Stones & Guehi are certainties if fit... Agree with Rashford, his top level of fit and on form is above all other wise players bar Saka... -
The 'soulless bowl' new ground debate
Owl_For_a_Lifetime replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
It would need to be a complete Spurs job where we move out, demolish everything, then rebuild with the pitch rotated about 30° counter clockwise to be perpendicular with the roads. The increased footprint would obviously be impacted by the river so there would need to be some specialist engineering in place. I don't mind the stadium being in the same location but the name absolutely has to change, as many have pointed out any internet search mostly references the disaster so we need out of that shadow.. New shiny sponsored stadium will do that job.. -

I sincerely hope he sticks to his guns on this one... For all the good Southgate did, not taking a proper LB and continually playing Foden / Bellingham together until the 80th minute in most games really held us back at the Euro's.... The fact we got to the final with those issues shows how good we are... -
Crazy isn't it.. We're like a hospital patient who's just been told the cancer has gone and fully in remission whereas they're a city trader being told the annual bonus will only be £100k instead of £250k....

Jermaine Pennant on Talk sport just now.. "Liverpool aren't in a crisis, Sheffield Wednesday are in crisis..." At least it's proof some of the media have their heads screwed on properly...

Athletico Bilbao model
Owl_For_a_Lifetime replied to AsioOtus's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
There have been similar examples in the UK (albeit watered down) like Man Utd having an academy graduate in their squad or Yorkshire CCC only having players if they were born in Yorkshire... Agreed it would be very hard to start from scratch and be competitive.. -
Exactly this.. Distribution of TV money equally would increase competitiveness creating enhanced demand for the product... Back in the days of Deportivo winning the title and Denilson's transfer to Betis were when La Liga had the chance to challenge. Even Sevilla dominating UEFA cup hasn't helped domestically..
-
Best thing that could happen to Scottish football is Hearts & Rangers going toe to toe with Celtic... Tight title race instead of winning by 20pts in March would create far more media interest internationally... Better players may be attracted to the league as a result..

That statement is a bad Thai translation from being Chansiri-esque...

Just ordered myself a polo shirt & keyring from the website, first time I've ever spent ANY money on the club (always been armchair fan from afar since being a kid as left Sheffield when I was 3)... Thought now would be a good time to start -
Since u been gone; Thank u, next; Shout out to my ex; Somebody that I used to know........ Best one of all - Go your own way from Fleetwood Mac....

Danny’s biggest issue at Rangers
Owl_For_a_Lifetime replied to beloved_aunt's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Is it any different to Wednesday fans? Rightly or wrongly they expect to be winning titles and not making an embarrassment of themselves in Europe. Despite the coaching CV, DR has no top flight managerial experience let alone title challenging or European campaigns. How would we react if Wednesday appointed someone who avoided relegation and then finished 12th in the third tier with Duisberg, Peterborough or Racing Santander? One of my best friends from school is a Rangers fan, told him they've won the lottery... -
Yeah I could have written that better to make more sense and easier to understand

The number of teams is crazy... 32 World cup and 16 Euro's make for far better scheduling and quality.. I appreciate that's coming from a rose tinted England perspective where more often than not we'll qualify. The only saving grace for me are the players from smaller nations (likes of Best, Haaland, Weah, Bale) who now have a better chance of being there.. Otherwise it's just a money grab..

We can't make the mistake of previous tournaments... If Kane, Bellingham, Foden, Rice have a metatarsil go 2months before the world cup starts we shouldn't be playing them hoping they get fit... Square pegs in square holes with fit players please.... The lack of left back at the last Euro's really annoyed me... -
Nope, no shiney new stadiums, Championship football with no EPL funding for years... As a city we took 75,000 to Wembley back in 1993!!! With population growth, Premier League tourism and away following from bigger teams in the top division 60,000 is no way a conservitive estimate for the one city team. All of this doesn't really matter though as it will never happen
-
From an acheivement point of view absolutely Newcastle and Leeds certainly lag behind but I was talking of overall stature of the one city team from reputation, investment potential etc. This helps solidify the point that both Sheffield teams merging would not guarantee success. Newcastle and Sunderland, both Manchester teams and both Liverpool teams attract circa 90,000 - 120,000 combined on a city /area level, Sheffield as a one city Premier League team would definitely pull in 60,000...
