  1. Population the size of Sheffield apparently.
  2. Another one for Matt Penney ...................a talented lad who sadly never kicked on. Thought Julian Watts / Patrick Collins had a lot of promise but there careers fizzled out. Alex Higgins young midfielder from the 90,s Tom Staniforth looked the real deal til tragedy struck Saw David Billington for 30 mins in a pre season friendly at Huddersfield , but it was long enough to see that injury robbed us of a real talent. Francesco Sanetti and Pablo Bonvin Sold Wayne Jacobs much to early , went on to have a decent career. Paul Corry oozed class on his debut but that was as good as it got.
  3. My old man (RIP) always said that Jimmy Greaves was the finest goalscorer he ever saw, he always had a little grumble about 66 saying it was slightly tainted by the fact that Ramsey refused to pick Greaves in the team. I remember one episode when they asked him if he had started drinking heavily whilst in Italy and he said "well....we had an away game in Pisa and the tower looked OK to me"
  4. Our stock of attacking players is ridiculous , at the world cup in hot conditions we could replace the front 4 at the hour mark in every game and not see a drop in quality. For arguments sake if we start with Gordon, Kane, Saka and Bellingham , we could replace with Grealish, Rashford, Foden and Palmer.....and thats without mentioning Madueke, Eze, Gibbs-White, Rogers etc. I know Wales were poor but I was impressed with Djed Spence last night , he is a right footed player at left back but how much more comfortable did he look doing that job than Trippier did in the Euros. With Hindsight Euro 24 was a tournament too far for Walker, Trippier, Shaw etc , but a new crop of young uns in Spence, Hall, Lewis-Skelly, Livramento have really freshened us up , throw in a fit James and Alexander-Arnold and the full back positions are looking stronger. Its not perfect, there are still some silly selections in there............Henderson, Loftus-Cheek, Burn etc but hopefully these get ironed out.
  5. Usual caveats apply....................CHANSIRI OUT Horvath: - 7.5 Iorfa: - 7.5 Weaver: - 7.5 M. Lowe: - 8 Palmer: - 6.5 Amass: - 7.5 Valery: - 7 Bannan: - 8 Ingelsson: - 7 J. Lowe: - 6 Cadamarteri: - 5 Brown: - 7.5 Fusire: - 5
  6. 100 % the word legend is much overused but the title is correct.................2 genuine legends.
  7. Buono Estente...................Boutros Boutros-Ghali
  8. usual caveats apply.....CHANSIRI OUT Horvath - 6.5 Palmer - 7 Iorfa - 8 Weaver - 7.5 M. Lowe - 7 Amass - 7.5 Bannan - 8 Ingelsson - 6.5 Valery - 6.5 Brown - 6 Cadamarteri - 5 SUBS all - 6
  9. "Cult hero" is open to interpretation...................usually means not necessarily the best player but someone who had a real connection. but there are many players that tick both boxes.
  10. is he Simon Weaver`s lad ?
  11. Usual caveats apply.................CHANSIRI OUT Horvath: - 8 Still needs to stop pawing shots straight back at people but tbf he kept really well yesterday. Palmer: - 7.5 looked so much better in his proper position. Iorfa: - 7.5 Much better than previous few weeks. Weaver: - 8 A few rash moments but given this was his full league debut he stood up very well , seems more confident and senses danger much quicker than Otegbayo. M. Lowe: - 7.5 Solid defensively and broke forward well. Amass: - 8 A couple of panicked clearances aside he was really good, would love to have seen him in last years team. Valery: - 8.5 My MOM , Switched seamlessly to midfield and given the current problems should stay there. Bannan: - 8.5 Rolling back the years, brilliant comeback after last week. Ingelsson: - 8.5 Still guilty of the odd misplaced pass or silly foul but his contribution in this awful period for the club has been immense. Cadamarteri: - 8 Worked his nads off, and the key difference second half yesterday was we started to see some end product as well. Brown: - 8 Didn`t look overawed and made some really nice contributions , none more so than his composed finish...well done lad. J. Lowe: - 7 Looked busier and brighter than recent displays. Fusire: N/A Ugbo: N/A A real snecklifter of a day............shout out to HP as I was critical of his selection and tactics last week but he got the Palmer/Valery switch spot on....Liam looks so much more comfortable at the back and Yan has neater feet than him for the midfield role. A fair few going a tad overboard about the two young uns but that is only to be expected given how starved of good news we have been these last 5 months. They both did really well against an admittedly pi$$ poor Pompey team on the day. Now pleeeeeeeeeeeeease can we just be taken over and add a few ooc players and who knows maybe this season won1t be a complete disaster.........yeah I know but I can dream.
  12. Ay up Torry...........my old man (RIP) started taking me to the odd game in the late 60,s but my own personal memories start around the time that 66 era team had been dismantled and that little maestro in your avatar was playing. Tell me a bit about Fantham , Swan , Springett, Megson , Layne etc , how good were they , comparisons to current players etc. Remember seeing McCalliog playing for Southampton had he faded a bit by then ?..................also my Dad used to be very complimentary about Mick Jones who I remember playing for Leeds but not utd. And any Wednesday fan of my era not including Tony Currie cannot be taken seriously , he was a fantastic player who should have won more England caps than he did.
