One group wanted to merge with our neighbour’s!!??
London_Owl replied to Bloxwich Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
This is so embarrassing for United. We rejected it, plus we’ll have new owners this year. There actual owners tried to make this happen -
Watmore is instantly better than anything else we've got going forward. Hopefully he's kept himself somewhat fit given it sounds like it'll just be until January

First Thing Out Of The Door Under The New Owners
London_Owl replied to keefdave's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Agree to an extent. If he's a good coach or an improvement on current staff, then yes give him a job. But if he's not an improvement, why?! However, he's a Wednesday legend and with that he should absolutely be give an ambassador role - bring him out at half time, or at corporate events etc. -
First Thing Out Of The Door Under The New Owners
London_Owl replied to keefdave's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Palmer should not be here next season, he will be 35. Bannan will be 36 turning 37 midway through the season. As OP said, sentiment should be going out the window now. It doesn't matter if they've had promotion or a fan favourite, it should be entirely, are they good enough to offer something to the squad. Personally, I keep Bannan as he offers something to the team. But we don't need a squad of players the other side of 35. The only role I want to see Palmer in next season with us, is as over age U21 player-coach. That gives him his playing contract and a way into coaching which he clearly wants. Its also a modern football club role. Look at Man Utd, they have had Tom Huddlestone, Paul McShane and now Tommy Rowe all doing that job -
Are Inglesson and Lowe both under contract next season? Madness if we gave them 3 year deal when we signed them, being either unknowns or injury prone. I think Bernard will stay after being injured for the last year. Valery and Charles will probably want to leave. Depending on how ambitious the new owners are, there's a slim chance we get Charles to sign a new contract. Palmer and Bannan I'm so undecided on. Bannan turns 36 next month - we badly need a replacement for him, but at the same time, everything he has done this summer, he deserves a new contract. Palmer is 35 next summer, and really we need better if we want promotion. The other youngsters, need to go back to being young players getting minutes when we can give them

More formal bids expected at SWFC today
London_Owl replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Pretty sure we were under a transfer fee ban the last time we were in League 1. That summer we brought in 15 people including Byers, Gregory, Jack Hunt, Marvin Johnson. The following season with the fee restricted, the only players we paid a fee for were Famewo, Wilks and Bakinson and then potentially loan fees for James, McGuinness and Mighten. Its not the complete end of the world, as both of those seasons were complete rebuilds. Saying all that, I will be surprised if the transfer fee ban is still an issue come the summer and it will just be reduced to this next window. -
He's just fine. A bit flappy, will drop the occasional howler, but also not bad at shot stopping. I went with my Mackem supporting mate to Southampton the other week, and he said he reminded him of Lee Camp when he was there. A solid second choice keeper. You just never want to rely on him too much during a season

Don’t blame the players or HP; blame Chansiri
London_Owl replied to shandypants's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Of course Chansiri is to blame for the squad we have, but that was just abysmal. These last four weeks our fan base has done everything we could possibly do for them, and they've given us 0 shots on target against our rivals who have been the worst Blades side we've faced in years. Our defence has conceded 9 times in the opening 15mins of games this season, and how many of those were individual errors playing suicide football?! Teams in our sitution should be building a solid defence and hitting teams on the break and that's what I expected we'd do this season - we're so open and do absolutely nothing with the ball when we have it, almost all of goals this season are from set-pieces or worldies. This team has more than enough Championship experience to be doing more -
LIam Cooper is on his way to SWFC
London_Owl replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I know its only a small detail, but we've actually said how long he's contracted. Another detail that just keeps the fans in the loop -
Whilst talking about a reference from 1971. Its as if attitudes have been exactly the same forever. Its just lazy
-
Absolutely. Using an image from a film that came out in 1971 is sooooooooo Gen Z

Mike Ashley preparing a bid
London_Owl replied to ChrisWaddlesMullet's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Mike Ashley didn't want to spend the money on Derby or Reading. If the big hitter rumours are true, then I don't think he will have a chance. He's there to get us if everyone else pulls out and "save us" so we don't get liquidated. -
Didn’t KW already say last week that people putting their name into the media are time wasters at this stage?
-
He's just turned 20 and got a fair few appearences under his name. If we can rebuild the squad he's an extremely useful asset to us.

Open Training Session at Hillsborough

Who's in the director box -
I was taking the ********. It’s a famous deal that came out of nowhere in America - it just goes to show they like to do things quietly without the fan fair. We know there’s been lots of offers for the club these past 12 months, but except the mouthy ones; Shaw, Textor we’re very much none the wiser of who those offers were from. We’re going to hear a lot of names over these next 3/4 weeks. I’m expecting a lot of them will be BS or time wasters. I fully expect the person who takes over will have had very little press coverage until maybe a few days before. I very much think the usual ITK will start hearing less as the offers are going into the administrators and not the club, so the chances of leaks from the good consortiums will be even less
-
Exactly, just like when they bought the Denver Broncos. All over the media months in advance of their $4.6billion purchase of a club.

Should a new Owner retain Pedersen OR replace?
London_Owl replied to 1952Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Yes, but we will be able to bring people in, which is what I said -
Should a new Owner retain Pedersen OR replace?
London_Owl replied to 1952Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
You do know that once we're taken over all the transfer embargos will be gone right, as our embargos are all for owed money? The only thing that will remain will be the transfer fee ban, which I'm sure new owners will probably negotiate and will probably as you said the January one. So free transfers and loan signings I'm sure will be signed - pretty sure Kris basically said the same on Friday on Football Heaven too -
Should a new Owner retain Pedersen OR replace?
London_Owl replied to 1952Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I think he'll get until the end of the season and they will see what he can do with new signings or just a squad of players (if of course he gets that) But I always thought he was a Stuart Gray type appointment. Someone to tie us over until they can get their own man in -
Unless MA offers more money or better payment structure. Their one job is to make the creditors their money back Yes, if they both offer the same money and payment terms, then yes, the Walton group will obviously get it. But like anything, its a negotiation
-
Yes, passing the EFL/IFR fit and proper test. Its why Textor is very unlikely, as its not an absolute certainty he will pass it with everything that's happened with his clubs over the summer. If Mike Ashley offered a better deal to the administrators (money or payment structure) than the Waltons, Ashley would get it as they're both likely to pass the fit and proper test
-
I still don't think he'll get it. I don't think he's guarenteed to pass the EFL tests, and just because of that alone, I don't think the administrators will pick him as its part of their remit to pick someone who absolutely will pass. But yes, good PR and shows the level of people who are still interested
