From an Argyle fan be loud and proud and make the football world hear what they need to hear, that this is about the fans and community. wishing you well.

Just a quick note from an Argyle fan who does a similar preview thing on Pasoti. I always enjoy your somewhat surreal take of the match preview. I have some theee seasons of One Game ata a time and the one blessing of us getting relegated is a change of scenery albeit of the Stevenage Mansfield and Port Vale variety You have set a high bar for your successor. It’s is a relentless task especially in three game weeks and Easter hols I think I only adapted two of your. Ideas. ok stole Enjoy the relaxation of not staring at a blank screen and see you all in a couple of seasons. One way or the other.

One Game at a Time Pasoti help request

That’s the kind of stuff I love. Thanks for that -
Greetings So some of you ( two at least from the messages) will have read One Game at a Time on the Pasoti (note to Sky, not Wayne Rooneys's Pasoti) site where I review and preview Argyles last/next game in a tongue in cheek manner. Just as well I didn't call it Pilgrims Progress....although with a bit of editing....there you go.... Grim. Anyway this weekend we have a lovely trip back to South Yorkshire to visit an old friend in Michael Cooper ( although he may not notice we have been to be fair) and so I have to for the first time since I started these have to cover the Blunts history and part of that will be hopefully to find some suitably horrifically bad days and humorous fails they have had, and I thought where better to start looking for them than to ask the people who will know them the most. We tend to be a family friendly site so that may limit some of the tales but any you can offer up would be gratefully received and acknowledged. Suffice to say the natives are restless at HP after Tuesday where Argyle time didn't happen at the end as we had become used to....talk of new investment but that may be too late.....no sign of our board putting Wayne ( and us) out of our misery (yet) so as QPR start winning again and Hull appoint a proper coach and almost our entire forward line carrying injuries ( Bundu managed to pull a hamstring scoring a goaline header....and without having to jump!). Other than that have a good Christmas.....especially v Oxford and see you in March! pafcprogs

Looks like I'll just go with the fresh option...save time.

On that we are in agreement. My first reaction when we signed Wazza was, oops, I hope no-one remembers all the stuff I wrote in the Birmingham City "One Game at a Time"' 's I wrote. I frequent a number of other teams fan sites as part of the process of writing my pieces. I participate in the ones that a re of a similar mind....every site has the grumpy ones and the ITK's and rumour mongers....a few have some really well written and often funny contributors....Loft for Words, here and Ipswich are all in that camp. Loft for Words is genuinely some of the funniest and acerbic football writing I have ever read, and if you haven't been there you are missing out. Still. looks like we have just about sold Cooper to your nearest and dearest. Can someone let Josh know he is fair game again.

Just when I thought my day couldn’t get any worse -
Already posted elsewhere on here about the game. Don’t worry I’ve supported Argyle long enough to keep my expectations realistic. did my summary for Pasoti today. Will post a link later. actually am hoping that you are as good as we made you look. It’s Colleen and the lad I feel Sorry for. Ha going to get bullied at school wearing that shirt regularly also looks like we fell foul of the Chanseri shirt ban. All the best. Looks like you might be onto something this season.

Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth though….
pafcprogs replied to JohnnyQuinnsQuiff's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Well that was horrible First of all well played. At least we can console ourselves that we lost to the (by the end ) top side in the division. I never write too much into one result. it can happen. That’s said we were devoid of a strategy. The team picked had never played together in the friendlies. Out front four were so disconnected from then rest of the team that could have been playing at Brammel lane for all the f good they did us. home form will be crucial so next week will be fun. This has the potential to go toxic quite quickly. I doubt we brought him in to sell tickets though. We sell out every week ( or we did at least) and we have a three thousand season ticket wait list ( again- at point of travel on Friday) it’s a bit knee jerk central chez Pasoti. With some justification as it could have been double what we finally ended up with. ah well. It’s only sport. I try to tell myself. enjoy the afterglow. I suspect we might not be the best team you face. Now where is my mindfulness tape ? i need to lie down in a dark room -
Owls v Plymouth Argyle Matchday Thread
pafcprogs replied to Holmowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Fair enough. There is one of theirs about. I posted a thread which talked about Rooney having the safest job in the division which caused some reaction (ruffled feathers even). still Röhl and Cufuentes were the hot streak managers from last season followed by Harris. Two down yesterday. all the best for the rest of the season though. -
Owls v Plymouth Argyle Matchday Thread
pafcprogs replied to Holmowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
To be fair I think I said Röhl more likely to be poached before Rooney was sacked. that’s what I meant anyway. Like him or lump him we are going to have Wayne for a while. -
I agree that if you just look at PPG and ignore other factors you wouldn't touch him with a long bargepole....but thats exactly what we didn't do... All I am saying is a man who has invested a sizeable amount of a self made legacy based on smart investment decisions and data, and who has taken us up two divisions, and created a well run organisation which is broadly profitable and competing in a league where most teams lose a lot of money is saying that the easy]decison was no thanks. he also has said that Rooney himself recognised he needed a different club and that this was probably his last chance. I honestly don't think Hallett is star struck. I think he thinks he can get a tune out of Rooney and it may well have other benefits in terms of attracting investment and or players to continue to grow a club that has quadrupled turnover ( again profitably) in his tenure. We will always be the favourites for relegations...location, budgets, history.... At least it's never boring supporting Argyle....our clubs have that much in common at least. I'll be the first for my slice of humble pie if we end up losing the first ten games....

So I think the knee jerk reaction for most Argyle's;e fans was ....but look at what he did at Birmingham. Our Chairman has now on numerous interviews explained that his underlying data was actually better than the knee jerk headline. Mid table at Derby under huge restrictions due to financial penalrties...relegated by point deduction in the end and he chose to go...Derby wanted to keep him. Washington, arrived mid season and improved them despite not being able to make additions. Improved the defence although missed out on play-offs. City. Arrived and was told the way the team was playing ( and was set up to play) had to change....no pre-season to change style with an awful run of fixtures in which to do it....no window as they fired him....went down anyway despite the change ...pretty much half. a season without him.....so was it just him? Hardly. We won't know what his pitch was like and as ever the first of this coming out was when it was a done deal....but our Chairman is not a gambler....he likes to support his managers unless it is irretrievably broken ( and it was with Foster) Truth be told we won't know until we have a final squad and we play a few games ....my final position is an estimate....and the two teams I am most worried about calling wrong are Sunderland and yourselves.... Today we a re linked with Adeboyego of Bolton...would be a fee so idftrue it means either Hardie or Whittaker a re going ( rumours Hardie has a release clause that someone has met and although our leading scorer In preseason has not started many. I think we will still bring a couple more in and a couple out...much may depend on if Cooper and Whittaker stay or if we get to spend some money a la Coventry after Gjokores and Hamer went. But I'll decline the rotten bumming....I'd have hoped for something more aspirational. In the spirit of my pre season preview...it's a Marathon, not a Snickers

Hello my flighty feathered friends. Here we go again then. A nice easy Sunday evening trip to S6 to begin the journey of the newly renamed Wayne Rooney's Plymouth Argyle. I guess we are just going to have to get used to it. Some of you may recalll I wrote the Pasoti equivalent of Lord Snooty/his successors match preview. As it is the first of the season, and as I have done five of these on your lot in two seasons getting you first up means the write up this season is more preview than history lesson. I have been watching your activity with interest. I am assuming Ugbo will land eventually ( hoping not in time for the weekend) and after your awful start last season it will be intriguing to see what the likes of Röhl and Cifuentes manage. Certainly your end of season form was pretty hot. From our side after the shock of landing Wazza as coach, to seeing his football style being laid out I think we will be OK ( indeed I have the two clubs predicted as adjacent by May) .He probably has the safest job in the Division, followed by DR. We still have some issues to work through, such as Cooper to leave in the Blunts can reach far enough down the sofa back to find the fee, although rumours now that they have moved onto Rushworth as we were unreasonably not accepting an IOU on blogroll for the payment schedule. As a result we still don't know which keeper will start and Hazard, the on paper number 2 keeper has yet to concede in pre season. What is clear is that we will be a front foot counter attacking side and encouraging teams to press us. Sounds like that will suit your bosses style to a tee so this could be an interesting battle of wits. Cissoko looks like a great signing. If there is a market for stopovers that has him for more than five in a match, lump on and retire! So best of luck for the season ( obvious exceptions being against us x 2). https://pasoti.co.uk/threads/one-game-at-a-time-difficult-second-season-the-owls-a-sunday-august-11th.129075/

Owls v Plymouth Argyle Matchday Thread
pafcprogs replied to Holmowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Greetings Owls Enjoyed the preview of Holmowl....like his stuff...I also now need to go and check the Holyfield story as never come across that ( likely he thought Plymouth was Portsmouth like half of Fleet Street) What have you done with Lord Snooty?? Or is there some strange superstition at work here? Anyhoo..big game, nervous as a kitten would take a draw now etc etc Here is the One Game at a Time link for those who do the away forum thing..... https://pasoti.co.uk/threads/one-game-at-a-time-youre-only-here-for-the-relish-hendersons-the-wednesday-a-tuesday-march-5th.127277/ All the best after tonight....it's about time Morgs scored a few though! -
How many Wednesday fans will be at Argyle?
pafcprogs replied to Green Army's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Something for the journey for the ones insane enough to do it. As you may recall I do a write up called One Game at a Time. This seasons (Season 2 to go all Netflix) is subtitled You're Only here for the Pasties! No deep dive into history this season for you lot ( and Ipswich on Saturday) as that was done last season....so a look at the wisdom of crowds, owls and hiring Germans. Obviously I want the win but I think you have made a smart appointment ( law of averages?) in Rohl. If he gets the right players in in January I think there will be at least three teams worse than both of us. So best of luck after Wednesday.... https://pasoti.co.uk/threads/one-game-at-a-time-youre-only-here-for-the-pasties-die-eulen-h-october-25th.125456/ -
Just popped on to wish you lot the best for the season. I enjoyed the repartee last season in what was an epic chase, and even though I wrote you off after the first leg of the PO semi I watched the second leg out of curiosity and it was an epic performance. Of course the first thing I see on here as we await the news of our latest signing, is Smith is apparently at the exit door....but I think he is unlikely to be heading into our wage structure! Anyway, I hope you and Ipswich ( and obviously us) rip it up.....not sure any of the squads are going to do a Sunderland but you never know.... I'll keep an eye on you tonight.....hoping they will have sold Ward Prowse before the week after next when they come to us. All the best....

pafcprogs replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Unbiased ish Argyle view. Wholehearted and gives you so much running but tendency to be wasteful with his passing and shooting erratic. He wins the ball well and his running stats are off the chart...always covered the most ground and were a fit side. Has a naïveté about him when provoked and teams like Pompey targeted him. We were gutted when he left but in hindsight we got half a million for someone who would not have been able to contribute to the team in his final year. We have moved on and I doubt he would be more than. a squad player for us now. I can see why Town would want him to get a season under his belt....so far he is a complete financial loss to them so they either boost his profile/fitness to take the option and sell on....right now after a whole season on the sidelines no-one would buy him for what they paid. I would say League 1 would be his best level....surprised Derby not in for him ....or Bolton... If you do get him I hope he does well with the obvious two game caveat. -

Then again last season we drew 2-2 at Parkaway from 2-0 down. So you could say we have progressed.
