I dunno if this helps but we’re not getting anywhere near 90 points next season

Why is everyone getting their knickers in a twist?
Mr. Tom replied to shandypants's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Anyone expecting a bidding frenzy is deluded. We’ll be picked up for cheap as a severely distressed asset, and rightly so. We’ll be run as a business, meaning the ultimate aim is profit, meaning the ultimate aim is progress on a budget. All that really matters is that it’ll be done completely differently to how DC did it, which is chucking silly amounts of cash at the roulette wheel without having a clue how it worked or what the rules were. It almost feels like some people actively WANT that sort of spendageddon nonsense to happen again. It won’t - our next buyer is going to run us like a normal business. Which means progress is, in all likelihood, going to feel glacial compared to DC’s first couple of seasons. Adjust expectations accordingly, it’s for the long-term good of the club but some are going to feel very underwhelmed this time next year. -

cheers pal -
yeah, to me his physicality means he’s still ’a handful’ for defenders, but only really when they’ve got the ball - when he’s got it, which is hardly ever, not so much

“…but apart from that, Mrs Kennedy, how did you enjoy the parade?” said it many times before and I’ll inevitably say it many times in future - the only way to ride this particular rollercoaster is to treat it like a soap opera we’re all hooked on. The heroes, the villains, the absolutely batshitmental plot lines…it’s a lifetime of ‘entertainment’, it’s gonna have its ups and downs but essentially it’s just a crazy story we’re all watching, nobody knows where it’s headed so let’s just lock in and find out!

ffs they’ve even spelled ‘marshal’ wrong and wtf is a ‘matchday operative’ without any further description christ that’s so poor
-
it’s the team on the pitch getting beaten, not him personally needs to grow up, learn the difference and get a life we’re all watching the same game from the same (broadly speaking) perspective, ie. Owls fans why some mid-40s loser thinks it’s ok to start swinging at people with kids around I’ll never know - get a grip and sort your life out you fizzy little berk
-
made 2 or 3 reyt saves first half though, swings and roundabouts

I thought there was quality going forward today, Lowe looked much better in midfield and Amass had a very lively game, as did McNeill until the pen miss. We just look so, so fragile at the back.

Fully agree, men’s footy is effectively run by a criminal organisation on a purely for-profit basis nowadays. The game has, as the old cliche goes, truly ‘gone’ in that sense. I love the fact that they’ve brought in a £40k wage for the WSL now but I hope they leave it there. Halfway reasonable wage caps in the men’s would’ve made such a huge difference but that ship sailed 30 years ago and we’re now left with an absolute shell of the sport it once was. It’s really sad, hope the women’s game can tread a bit more carefully to keep it properly accessible for generations of families to come.

Meh. It’s a perfectly reasonable attendance under the circumstances. Good, even. Funny thing about number-watching is that we’d all be just as proud to support a tiny club with tiny attendances - almost more so, in fact - so who cares?

give over soft lad

yeah fair enough mate, like I said it’s a messy scenario and we’ve all got our own issues with the recent past - luckily we can now all move forward as one and enjoy it again

I think something the OP overlooks is the fact that many of us did renew STs a long time ago without really realising the position we’d soon be in re: boycotting, and then STILL stayed away. That was a real pain point for a lot of us but we did it anyway. Seems off to suggest we should be further penalised financially now relative to others, which this plan would effectively do if I’m understanding the idea correctly. (Apologies if not!)

we could do with some better walls first

teste-moanial for him we spend 90min stood outside his compound listing all the ways he was an eejit into a megaphone while, er, pushing our nuts through his garden fence I dunno I haven’t really thought it through
