And here lies the issue. It suggests the police cannot control the Muslim community raising against the Jewish fans and that is a worry. Why is an MP/Councillor becoming involved? Should it not be between the police, UEFA and the two clubs?
Would he get involved if Ajax’s fans came to Villa Park? If Millwall fans trashed the place as they sometimes do? No, we’ve seen a huge increase in hatred towards the Jewish community due to a proxy war thousands of miles away and this type of action only feeds the right wing narrative further and causes more division.
I think it’s the correct decision given their fan’s past behaviour but sets a worrying precedent and stinks of Middle Eastern politics. That comes down to how it’s been cancelled, not that it has been cancelled.
