  1. At the risk of being a boring pedant, that is not half a squad. That's half a starting XI. The matchday squad is the 18 players, our squad is the 20-25 players that are in the first team that most football clubs have to pick from. As I suggested in the post you quoted from... we don't survive League One - not because of who is in the starting XI, but the depth beyond that. We don't have half a squad capable of staying in this division and we barely have one that could survive in the league below. We lack the depth.
  2. He'd be a lot better than most in League One and is one of few we have who could be part of a spine for the next 3/4 years. But I suspect he won't be interested in schlepping around tier 3 of a foreign country and will be back home
  3. We don't even have that. I read stuff like this and it makes me wonder if a lot of Wednesday fans just don't realise quite how poor our team is. The team as we have struggles to survive League One because of the complete lack of depth (not because of the lack of quality in the first choice 11), it's a complete rebuild job and may have to be done on a shoestring until 2027. League One will allow us to do that and still be competitive, but it will be a heck of a challenge and as we know a decent chunk of signings simply don't work out. It's going to be a process.
  4. The players did not sign a contract with the owner, they signed it with Sheffield Wednesday FC.
  5. Football Club A breaches contract to its players. Football Club A breaches contract to other clubs. Should Football Club A get punished?
  6. They're punishing the club
  7. Nope. Times have changed since Hillsborough was built and even since the WC plans. Failure to keep up is regression. The reality is if I chat to any 'casual' football fan in the southern half of this country they are shocked that Hillsborough is even still as a sporting venue. For image, financial and all sorts of transport-related practical reasons these things vastly outweigh "but what about the history"?
  8. History and tradition doesn't put bread on the table
  9. I suppose the argument is these are two different stories
  10. The report was only to do with serious interest/progress in the deal had been made. It's not the local journos fault that DC can't Google who he's dealing with
  11. Can we get taken over by a non nutcase first please?
  12. Trying too hard
  13. 3 would be bloody brilliant, IMO... so the implication it could be double that is dreamy
  14. That's separate to the number of "sensible bids"
  15. It means anywhere from 3 to 11
