He's a Windass regen I reckon. He does strike a ball as well as anyone we've had in a long long time
-
Thanks. I agree that was the case before admin but not heard if it still is or not
-
So basically, come out of administration and we can sign frees and loans (with no loan fee) Anyone know if that embargo prevents us offering contracts to young players now, Aloa and Grainger specifically? I assume they'll have to wait until we exit administration too

When it suits is one thing but when we've had the worst calendar year of home football in living memory, have nothing to play for, never score, will have an incompetent ref and had a very disappointing derby outing less than a week ago and have also lost since then it's another thing entirely The hope was that we would sell a lot of the 4 match packs before the Blades game because that performance was a kick in the teeth for a lot of fans. The fans have been incredible this season but eventually they will start to find better things to do with their saturday afternoon than watch us pass the ball around at the back, hit the first man with every corner and then concede on 65 minutes every match because every opponent brings on 3 subs at 60. I get that the squad and manager have very limited resources to work with and the EFL have questions to answer there but at some point we need to stop playing such slow, turgid football and start playing some blood and thunder football at home. The results aren't going to get fans in so the style of football has to

EFL rules, sanctions & embargos are unfair?
Sultan_Pepper replied to Lord Nilsson's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
The rules were the rules before we broke them. Fair cop, points deductions should happen, embargos should happen. The only decisions I have issue with are that they prevented us signing other loans with zero wages and zero transfer fees. Add another 3 or 4 players of Amass' quality to the squad and we'd be contesting more failure in a properly competitve league. As it is we're barely able to field a squad and the EFL's decision is risking significant injuries to a threadbare squad -
I've seen a few people criticising Fusire with snidy little comments. I can only assume you lot are watching different matches to me because he's been one of our better players this season despite his lack of experience and support. One of the very few players in our team who has the pace to play at a high level. The lad's improving every game and did very well in a very tough assignment last night against two very good players down that flank. He'll have a very good career at Championship level or above, easily.

Millwall vs Wednesday thread
Sultan_Pepper replied to MF TAZ's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Nah, he definitely pulled/jarred his back with that last ditch tackle Was a great bit of defending that he shouldn't have had to do if the ref had awarded us the free kick a few seconds earlier -
Robert Paulson?

Svante Inglesson’s contract…
Sultan_Pepper replied to Rogers's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I really rate him and if he wasn't having to play 3 positions at once while our centre forward is anonymous and we have no wide players in the team I think he'd look much better Poor bloke is playing as a forward, winger and centre midfield at the same time -
Two seasons to get out of L1
Sultan_Pepper replied to crookesowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
The flip side of us not having an established team when we go down is that we've needed a clear out and a fresh start for about 30 years We've limped from one aging squad to the next for a long long time The fee restrictions will hurt but there's about 10 squads' worth of very good premier league youngsters that are released ever summer It's a chance to build a future, I f**cking hope we take it -
Nilsson Nilsson Nilsson Nilsson Nilsson Nilsson Nilsson Nilsson Not Ugbo Nilsson Nilsson

Absolute club legend. Can cover the entire back line and half of midfield. Has a fantastic injury track record, lives local, loves the club, is respected by the young players, would do wonders to help bring a young team through. I also reckon he'd take a reduced wage and stay on to become our all time highest appearance maker

Yep, Valery on the right in front of Palmer or Fusire and Amass on the left in front of Lowe in a 4-4-2 has to be worth a try. Reminiscent of when Lee and Helan moved forward under Stuart Gray and we became much more solid

New Statement From Kris Wigfield
Sultan_Pepper replied to TZOwl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
There's no further downside to us having them. We're done anyway. Any more we get now are to let the rest of the league know that they still apply those penalties for what the muppet did. Deterrant as intended -
Mike Ashley in coming, along with....
Sultan_Pepper replied to RevOwl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Only way someone would bring Sam in would be an attempt to keep us up this season which is a 99.9999% impossibility -
For what it's worth I don't think he faked anything He hurt his back stretching to recover and made a fantastic tackle after the ref should have given us a free kick a few moments earlier The ref at fault there, one of the long list of things he got wrong today Iorfa has his faults and United were primed to close us down whenever the ball went near him but that tackle he made that hurt him was excellent

It could be helpful as long as they prepour about 50,000 pints. Just get them poured early. They'll not go warm in this weather
-
That sounds sensible They've done a lot right recently at the EFL but they've always got a mistake in them. Fingers crossed they get things right
-
Interesting that they have to grant exclusivity before the league are willing to do any checks Get checking people now you lazy chuffers
-
Have to agree with this. Expectation is the enemy of enjoyment in football. I hope we get mega rich owners with a plan and competence and steam roll our way to the top but that's a pipe dream. I've got my fingers crossed as much as anyone for that but there's a section of the fan base that have heard every rumour and will now be disappointed if we're not owned by the Waltons by Christmas. We need to temper expectations and give our full backing to whoever comes in and help them see the right way to run the club. Work with us, not against us like the last muppet and we'll be on the up

Well done Vallery. Been great this season, even though being asked to play away from his best position Might see him back there now we are getting a couple more bodies in
-
The queue can be enormous on match days so plan accordingly
-
Makes sense but if we have a centre half and a wide player in that allows Palmer and Inglesson to be central options along with Valery whereas Inglesson has been deployed in a front 3 recently. When Bernard comes back that frees up Lowe and in turn Amass who could play left side I reckon and Chalobah may come back at some point I think we need some pace and creativity. Everything goes through Bannan now and there needs to be a second plan of attack.
