Fight on the Kop (vs preston)
Musn't Grumble replied to rekkers's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
SIgn of the times unfortunately. Applies not just to football matches but many other things. We are expected to have black and white opinions on everything. There is no mediating or impartial stance and no tolerance if someone has a different view. It's a case of "I'm right and I am entitled to throw punches to confirm that" -
As you say, definitely a card of some colour for this. The referee also did nothing about a spate of cynical fouls on McNeil and Amass. The first fouls should have been yellows which would have prevented the second foul at least. Instead, the two players were able to repeat the offence with impunity when they really should have been hown a second yellow. Realistically, Preston were lucky not to finish the game with only 9 or 10 players.

Mike Ashley makes £20 mil offer to buy club 🙄
Musn't Grumble replied to notsowiseowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Additionally, he bought Newcastle for around £100m and sold it on for over £300m enabling the really big money to come in and take it to the next stage. Depending how long it would take to get Wednesday as potential PL regulars, I can see that an Ashley bid for the Owls might not be too different in terms of where and how far the club goes during his tenure. -
Jesus Billy Christ! How am I supposed to unread that?!

It's taken the administrators just a couple of weeks to find ten serious buyers (so far). It took the former owner several years to find no buyer. Now the latter is a special talent that I hope I never need.

I hope that they all got away unscathed... A few years ago, I went on a corporate do to some big darts championship and it was like the wild west when they started chucking tables and chairs at one another. A bit like a 1970s football away match updated for the modern era.

Brian Laws - Not a player for Wednesday but a pretty popular Owls boss who regards the club very highly. Laws' first signing, Mark Crossley on loan from Fulham, also has a few nice words about the Owls these days. And who can forget the goal he scored against Southampton after he came up for corner.

The WORST player on the pitch tonight by a mile
Musn't Grumble replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Josh Sargant was probably the best striker in the Championship about a year ago. Apart from the assist for their goal, he was anonymous for most of the game. I think Norwich will struggle to avoid a relegation battle this time around. -
You are not going blind. Here's the science... In the olden days, manufacturers added blueing agents to washing powder. These agents absorb and reflect certain wavelengths of light to give the illusion of brighter whiteness instead of a creamy, yellowish colour. Old 'uns amongst us will remember washing detergents being advertised containing "blue whitener" which sounds a bit daft but really explains the same thing. Therefore, the blue and white stripes of WBA compared to the bluey/white of the SW change strip meant that, especially from a distance where the TV cameras were placed, both shirts looked remarkably similar (i.e. bright white). I would have thought that the TV companies ( and possibly even the referee) might have realised this and got one or either side to change strip but, as our second strip is white anyway, it would not have made much difference.

Kept the game flowing and gave free kick for diving and a corner for Horvath holding the ball too long. Referee had a great match.

Admittedly, Nashville Predators versus Dog & Partridge does have a certain ring to it.
