Also, just my personal opinion but I don’t believe people are willing to spend £30-40 million to own a club that can’t spend money on players for another 2 years. My hunch is there’s been talk with the EFL and deals to be done to improve the embargo situation
-
Brunt and whelan were free transfers And so were Bannan, Lee and Bernard in the championship. There will be plenty of players available for free aged under 25 come the summer, who fancy the challenge of first team football at a big club no matter in league 1. Added to our players like Charles, Weaver, Thornton, Fusire, Brown etc. I think we have an opportunity to build a squad mostly of under 25 players rather than over 30’s
-
One main reason Sunderland did better than us is their league 1 team was largely players under 25, either from their academy or snapped up from elsewhere like Ballard and O’Nien. Once they got to the championship those young players continued to get better whilst our over 30’s then struggled. Hopefully our new owners will realise that we need a younger squad that will develop whilst the club climbs the pyramid

Should not be losing games like that

Whether I feel Pederson should be given a chance or not, you are right that billionaire new owners are unlikely to keep him as their head coach. Unless it’s the danish guy. -
I’d like to see Brown and McNeill play together this season. Cadz is really struggling, unfortunately this level seems above him right now but this is where he’s got to be which is no fault of his own. Hopefully next season he will find some form. But his finishing hasn’t been great this season

assistant Sporting Director at Midtjylland, looks like their owner might be bidding for us too then

Pierce Charles close to return

Yep hopefully the days of losing players for peanuts will be over now. That’s why I’d be giving Charles, weaver, brown, grainger, even better new deals straight away. -

The good news is he has a contract till 2027 so our wealthy new owners don’t need to accept any cheap bids in January. -

First thing I would be doing as new owner is giving Charles a new contract that encourages him to stay for the next 3 years -
Yep, the embargoes this season on top of the admin points deduction was effectively an auto-demotion to league 1. Seems quite a heavy punishment really for the crimes we committed.
-
Maybe, in my view the following would be more than sufficient punishment 1) 6 point deduction added to this season's table. with 6 points suspended for any further financial issues 2) Only loans (no fees) and free transfers allowed in Jan 2026 window. 3) Only allowed to sign players if paying in full upfront, no staggered payments, for windows in summer 2026 & winter 2027.

But our average league attendance in league 1 last time out, when we had to go up via play-offs, was 25,378. with 33k+ against Derby and Posh. I think investors will see that as the more valid figures than what we are getting this season.
-
Though the embargo is over multiple seasons…. It’s been a long week
-
But im not sure why it would be fair that we have punishments spread over multiple seasons? What would be the justification?
-
You could ask those investors, which clubs would get more than 20K attendance when they are sat at the bottom of the championship on -4 points, only 2 home wins all year and only 4 goals in 7 months.
-
I am with you there. Correct me if im wrong, but didn't the pigs agree to a 2 point deduction instead of having a transfer embargo? So could new owners do a deal with the EFL to reduce the transfer embargo in exchange for more points deductions this season?
-
As i've said before clubs our size when relegated from the championship have 23K or less average attendance in those seasons. I am talking Leeds, Forest, Leicester, Wolves, Southampton, Norwich, Pigs. That's because there's always a correlation between league pyramid standing and attendance, it's human nature to attend when things are going better. The only two clubs with better attendance going down to league 1 are Man City and Sunderland with 28K average attendence. Our attendance figures will be affected this season due to the first home games, under ****head ownership. If we get 23K+ for home games for the rest of this season then it doesn't mean we don't have a strong fanbase compared to others, it means people don't want to pay to watch s*** football. Appreciate the fanbase we have, don't knock it

Yeah I watched Redmond a lot at Saints and he was a decent player. Even if his legs have gone hes got the ability to help us maintain possession better and will create chances too. As probably been said he can be a supporting forward, wide player or wing back. So helps us with formation changes
-
Probably just need to look at someone like Nathan Jones to see how some managers suit league 1 jobs.
-
Think im right in saying that Mike Ashley wanted Gerrard to be Newcastle boss once and Stevie turned it down at the time.... Not wanting to start the usual debate about whether he would actually take the job at Hillsborough, but Ashley does like a British manager. Rafa being the only exception out of 8/9 he hired.
-
Yeah sometimes fans need to remember that what we see from the outside doesn't always reflect how good a manager/coach actually is. Every club, players. circumstances, pressures a manager deals with are different. I would say fair play to Coventry too for likely doing some research to find that Lampard was a good coach.
-
I don't think they should be struggling this much despite those issues, spending €482m! on new players, and only selling €219m, so effectively spending €263m extra on the team after winning the league - and being this bad. Not for me
