  1. McNeill was fantastic first half, when he scored that first you could see him grow in confidence, constantly wanting the ball. Should have been hooked on 60mins though as he was absolutely cooked by that point. Cadamarteri sorry I just don’t see anything in his game to suggest he’ll be a success in league one. We need a new number 9
  2. You mean that self promoting fanciful swill from the guy with no money? Won’t be him because his spokesman has said his “circumstances have changed” I’d guess his circumstances are very much the same as they were then. Sheffields very own Erik Alsonso
  3. You’d keep Cooper, who you’ve seen play for us for 90mins, but release Bannan, who’s played for us for 10 years and has repeatedly proven he is our finest player in a generation, and would undoubtedly be head and shoulders above anyone else in league one, and is never injured (there is 14 months between them in age) Makes loads of sense that
  4. Will be nice to watch a back pass with a <100bpm
  5. Like anything the devil is in the detail. For starters €150m is the budget, not the build cost. Also Spain is a mainland EU country, lower import and manufacturing costs plus no VAT. Do Zaragoza own the land they’re building on or is it a tenancy and if so what is the yearly costs on that? If Wednesday were to build a new 45k stadium the main thing the owners would be looking for is commercial viability. So good location, which means central or high traffic. Which means land, which means compulsory purchase of commercial property, road and transport infrastructure, start to add in surrounding retail, hotels, parking etc and it starts to creep into numbers beginning with £B
  6. It’s an expanding sport on a national level and it’s great for the 10 or so clubs whose men’s team can afford to subside large wage bills to keep them in the WSL. Outside of that not so much, lovely thought, but from a business perspective makes very little sense. As I said women’s football should be franchised like in the USA, they have their own infrastructure from grassroots up to the pros, there’s a reason why the best women’s teams are the best men’s teams.
  7. Why? Genuine question, all women’s teams lose money and are subsidised by the men’s clubs. Whilst we’re sailing close to PSR rules in future seasons how would it help SWFC having to prop up a women’s team to the tune of a couple of million quid a season. Sheffield should have a women’s football club but it shouldn’t belong or be attached to either Wednesday or United. Nor should any women’s team be attached to existing pro clubs. Women’s teams success is purely dependent on how successful their men’s team is. If the likes of Brighton/Villa/West Ham drop out of the PL or when Leicesters PPs stop, let’s see how much appetite their is for those clubs to continue propping up the losses of their women. Womens football should be franchised. And grow naturally to stand on its own two feet.
  8. Drag calamity Dom off, Emery simply can’t be any worse, if he is he shouldn’t be playing football. Get Fusire off, we’ve got a seasoned 450 game professional who plays that position sat on the bench.
  9. Not a fullback, body shape is all wrong one on one
  10. Iorfa starting? Just wanted to get off the pitch on Sunday then
  11. Goes hand in hand, the tv series wouldn’t be as effective if they weren’t successful
  12. Exactly, that’s exactly why they’ve done it. Rob Mcelhenny has spotted a market, called his mate (who he’s never met) who just so happens to be one of the most famous, marketable actors on earth, who is a marvel star, which is owned by the largest streaming and media company in the world. They’ve used Wrexham as a vehicle to push a tv show. My original reply was to someone suggesting they’re the only US owners who haven’t done it for the money…of course they have
  13. So those two did it for what? Their love of small town Welsh soccer ball?
  14. Agree with all that but a 36 year old Bannan is still the best player in league one. He’s got a good couple of years left in him yet.
  15. Chill Dom it’s only opinions,
  16. They were all crap, but the thread is about Iorfa, says it in the title
  17. Very fortunately yes
  18. Every game we’re wide open, I get the squads crap but at least make us hard to beat
  19. There’s a running joke on here that they’re all blades
  20. I grew up with Matt and Alex and got to know Cookie later on through football, contrary to popular belief, they’re all Wednesdayites
  21. When people say there’s no good locations to build a new stadium, if you’re only looking at wasteland or brownfield sites yes there aren’t many, not that haven’t already got housing PP on them. But if the build is seen by SCC as a wider regeneration project with ‘public interest’ it could be built anywhere, and outside of receiving fair compo there isn’t a single thing any commercial or private property owner could do about it. Awful but reality. Would be more expensive, would take longer, but anything is possible if the authorities are onboard.
  22. Absolutely but the conversation was surrounding a new stadium being cheaper to build than a redevelopment, which it simply wouldn’t be
  23. That is true although the north was an entirely new structure, as was the outer perimeter and roof of the kop, so they were basically new. Don’t think there’s any need to debate any further, ultimately all costs depend on complexity, but when you look at the figures of other clubs that have moved or redeveloped, new stadia is costing much more, however in our situation could well be the best option commercially.
  24. All your questions can be answered by looking at the architectural plans for the Hillsborough redevelopment in 2010
  25. The 2018 redevelopment plans didn’t require stand closures, new structure was built behind the original leaving stands in full use, as they did at Anfield and the Etihad. You only have to look at recent real world examples of the difference in price between redevelopment of existing and building new stadia. £22m was the cost of redeveloping Hillsborough in 2010. Say we times that by 10 today, we’re still coming in much cheaper than a new build. Is it possible to build a new stadium for £200m? Possibly if we lease a plot from SCC in a business park next to a DPD depot and build a generic 30k out of the city, doubt that’s what new owners would be looking to do though.
