Make the nearest match to 24th October the day of celebration.
-
Today has been a truly significant one in the history of Sheffield Wednesday. October 24th could become WAWAW DAY in future years when we once again get out the black and gold shirts and scarfs and celebrate the way everyone came together in adversity to save the club. A way to remember the resolve of fans collectively especially the work of those in the Trust, the heroic efforts of the club staff to make sure SWFC continued to function and the players who gave everything on the pitch despite the odds against them. A way to celebrate who we are.

I just don't see the point of any of this
Anton DecChair replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
The only thing that isn’t pointless is the ongoing effort by The Trust and others to remove the owner. Nothing else matters. -
Nope. Wasn’t there. I was roughing it for the summer in Italy. Didn’t find out the result till the following day when the British papers arrived at the garage in Sestri Levante. Got some funny looks from the locals as I danced round a petrol pump. Calmed down with a a swim, an espresso and a State Express 555 (a fag).

Protest in London on September 4th
Anton DecChair replied to Wednesdayitewastaken's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I grew up a London Owl. My mates were all Tottenham and Arsenal fans. I’m still in touch with a number of them and they’re appalled at what Chansiri has done to our club. They’re also impressed with the ongoing protests and boycotts and wish us all good luck in our efforts to rid ourselves of this disgraceful owner. One said that if he still lived in London he would join the embassy gathering! Well done London Owls…every single action against this man who continues to insult this club, this community, these fans and their history keeps this issue in the public eye. We’re not letting up and he knows it. -
Somebody got paid to come up with THAT! Shocking.

Always had an interesting view on Owls issues of the day. RIP Nev.

A timely and much needed summary of the state of our club. The OP is a perfect reference document. Many thanks Harrowby.

The same. Good people leaving as quickly as they could. Awful stories, from those who couldn’t afford to give up their job, about the owner and his treatment of staff.and it appears things haven’t improved at all. This in the first two seasons. The chairman’s performance at the first fans’ forum I attended was unbelievable as was the sycophantic applause from a section of those attending.

Another great OMDT Holmowl. Thanks once again. I fear a 0-0 tomorrow- strong winds, hangovers etc But as Bertie Mee said to Bill Shank- lee after a goalless bore draw at Highbury ”William It Was Really Nothing” -

Marro Posted 44 minutes ago ....His tactics have been great on the whole. Doesn't get everything right but I love the positivity and trying to play on the front foot. We have a gem of a manger. Looking great for Christmas. All we need is a Baby Jenas.

New manager already lined up:
Anton DecChair replied to swfcGibbo's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
We need a miracle worker to keep us up. There’s one football man who has a reputation for doing just that. It’s understood that he’s available. He’s fully au fait with the difficulties of working at Hillsboro. Why would you be looking anywhere else?- 692 replies

Worst team and manager we've EVER had
Anton DecChair replied to meggoisgod's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Munoz on Sky after match. Incomprehensible. -
No mystery. A hopeless situation perfectly constructed by a malevolent individual. The manager would be gone at any other club. This squad would perform so much better without Munoz and his staff.

Wednesday - V - Sunderland OMDT
Anton DecChair replied to Lord Snooty's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
This team under this manager would struggle in the National League. -
Why so few expressions of anger on match day? Why are Wednesday fans so apathetic in responding to the appalling standard of football being offered up this season. Even worse, why are there fans who turn on the few who are letting their feelings be known? Chansiri"s tenure at S6 has been a catalogue of errors and maladministration. Why does it seem to have been tolerated by so many? They raged at St James's Park against Mike Ashley...they're doing the same at Everton against their board - situations that pale into insignificance when compared with Wednesday. Hardly a squeak at Hillborough. Back in the shocking days of the mid seventies fans voted with their feet. Crowds regularly dropped below 10,000 and those that did turn up always showed their displeasure by roundly booing at half and full time. in those days there were seat cushions for hire and at the end of a match hundreds would be hurled onto the pitch in protest at the performance. Increased purchase of season tickets will explain why crowd numbers remain high now. In the seventies though, it was mainly pay on the gate and in a time of rampant inflation and industrial disputes there was less money around so Wednesdayites were not likely to waste precious cash on an afternoon or evening of frustration and disappointment. Nowadays if you've paid for a ridiculously expensive season ticket you're going to want to get your money's worth, but if you have turned up and what you're witnessing is so dire why be so passive? Why are so few getting behind the "Chansiri Out!" chants? This isn't a call for direct action, it's a genuine question about why so many of our fans act like they do. Small groups are becoming more vocal...let's hope it continues.

Matchday Prices Next Season

The Munoz Press Conference. The POTD Prices for 23/23. Two absolute belters in one week! The latest chapter in the Chansiri Encyclopaedia Of How Not To Run A Football Club. -

Anton DecChair replied to Philb125's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
That is utterly disgraceful. Call yourself a fan. Under no circumstances should you wish defeat on your club. You are akin to those at S2 Corrected. Thats about the median of OWLSTAK at the moment. Please don't compare some of the animals on here to that of the average fan who hasn't even heard of Owlstalk. In fact animal isnt the correct term they are inbreds. Stop! Think! Re-read! It's a hypothesis!!! Nobody has said they want Wednesday to lose tomorrow. FFS! Disgraceful comments. -
We are NOT a family....We are a tribe!
Anton DecChair replied to Anton DecChair's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
The point was about the tribal nature of supporting Wednesday. These weren't "magic moments", they were examples of how following the club with passion had taken me into situations I would rarely have encountered in other areas of my life. ...if at all. None of the examples was about "looking for aggro".They were adrenaline moments triggered by violence or the threat of it. My Dad told the Chelsea fans using foul and abusive language "to behave"...and after looking at my old man's stare decided to do so. My mate responded to getting a whack from a Bolton fan and we had to drag him away, as did the Bolton fans with their mate. Running after the thugs with several other Wednesday fans was to get them to the police, but they got away down an alley and into the crowd. Apologies for not being more clear. Because these events were atypical in my life they stand out in the memory. The wild, raw feeling of elation when crucial goals were scored or victories secured are obviously the best element of this tribal support...the sheer despondency of witnessing a defeat that has seen us relegated is the other extreme. Speaking to some other Owls and also fans of other clubs, few of them have ever said they feel part of a "family". However there was an agreement that the "buzz" of being immersed in following that one club felt tribal.... beyond logic and reason. They were just your team and you felt powerless to do anything to change it..... should you actually want to. -
We are NOT a family....We are a tribe!
Anton DecChair posted a topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
The essence of being a Wednesdayite is illogical. I have little in common with other fans, but I know they ache with frustration over our current situation. More than 20 years of having to accept dross in a blue and white shirt. No compensation for all the other Shiite things going on in life. One trophy in sixty years of following my team. What I share is that blind joy of a moment against the odds. The rolling around on the floor with complete strangers at Blackburn in 1980 when Ian Mellor smacked in the winner in what turned out to be a promotion season. Dragging a mate off a gobby Bolton fan when Ken Knighton scored the injury time winner in the dark, clueless days of the mid 70s. Chasing two thug Wednesdayites down an alley after they'd brutally attacked a couple of young Arsenal fans after the replay at Filbert Street in 1979. Finding myself jumping up and down with David Ford at the same game when Wednesday scored the third. Sharing beers with my son's mates on the green outside Wembley in 2016. Watching my Dad face down three Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge after they'd verbally abused Tony Kay. Few people "get" what it's all about. Few managers... Sturrock came close.... appreciate what I feel. Our current owner in a blue and white scarf might try but he hasn't got a clue. The "Wednesday" family is as artificial as Sepp Blatter's insulting references to "The Football Family". "Trust me" !!? Don't be silly. Of course I don't. Just get on with it as best you really can or get out.- 18 replies

Poor performances tonight and against Boro. Hardly a surprise in the light of the erratic string of performances so far this season. Some great results and some lucky ones too.... and now two defeats on the bounce. We are a club in chaos and I'm delighted we've done as well as we have so far. I have no idea what Jos is trying to do, I had no idea where Carlos came from to be our coach or what he was trying to do after season one and as for our owner, his rant about losing Carlos last Christmas sums up why we are where we are. Happy days.
