Yes, we're now probably at a stage of beggars can't be choosers - but it would genuinely be a real shame if Liam didn't finish his career here, regardless of our current squad state making him a necessity.
As well as that, in an era when we're trying to blood through youngsters...having Liam Palmer around them is invaluable in terms of giving them a proper role model.
